The Event Deck was spoiled today. I have to say I'm utterly disappointed. paraphrasing a quote I saw, it looks like a deformed child of soul sisters and B/W tokens. it's technical value via TCG is ~270, but there is just nothing in there that makes me want to buy that. No deck wants 4 Windbrisk Heights anyways....

do not play modern but I want to get into it is this not wroth buying at all? I am not a big fan of white decks but I will play whatever gets me into modern I guess. I was going to make a RDW that was maybe 50-60 bucks the most. Is this not even worth it? There are some cool cards I like in here.

@Death_The_Kid Most of the modern deck that get you in the best for the cheapest are aggro decks. this is fine, but RDW and turn 2 infect are also legit, minus their money cards. RDW money is mostly land, while infect is wanting to play the $70 each Noble Hierarch . It would be a start, but I heavily suggest buying a few cards to go with it, especially some shocks and Hero of Bladehold to balance it out. personally I would look up a 10 dollar infect deck and play that, it's fun, fast, and reasonably consistent. There's never anything wrong with homebrew either.
Epochalyptik, I apologize for making the thread. I tried to derail it as much as I could.

Death_The_Kid - there are lots of successful, good, cheap modern decks.
For example you have mono red burn or sligh.
You also have izzet decks like delver that play a bit similarly to burn but you also have things like kiln fiend etc.
Hatebears is a deck that uses loads of creatures that stop the opponent from doing things. It's not so expensive.
Mono green infect can be very cheap.
Other aggro decks like selesnya can also be inexpensive.

Not trying to plug, but you don't need money cards to build an effective modern infect deck; An Incredibly Alliterative Increasing Infect Deck
A solid mana base and lots of good pump cards are a must.

OMFG. This entire thread just made my night at work so very entertaining. Really. Thanks T/O community.
GoofyFoot, I'm sure this thread didn't make you happy though.
I'm unsure why everyone is always so hostile on here. Kinda bogus. Much better ways to blow off steam than to spew hostility about a HOBBY. Don't you all like this game?

@GoofyFoot: I wasn't complaining about the thread itself.

If you think about it, the deck actually makes sense. The deck was made to be a way for new players to get into modern. If you put fetches and pricey cards in it, that would defeat the purpose. This is supposed to be a budget way to get into the format. Putting in money cards would make the deck go up in price, making it unavailable to new players.

@cakrause86: I agree with you. People here always seem so hostile or rude. Other communities that I frequent are usually nothing like this; it just seems to be something the Magic community has adopted. Maybe because magic players are a bunch of know-it-alls and sociopaths. (inb4moarflame)
I'm severely disappointed in the decklist. I was hoping for more money cards and a strategic approach, but I can see why Wizards decided not to make it so. This deck needs to hold its value exact otherwise price spikes will take away the chance to get into modern for new players. I just wish that it didn't have semi-money staples like Path to Exile or Inquisition of Kozilek to tempt me to get it, because I know I'd regret it later. Damn.
