Emrakul printing would nicely round out some corners, so...

February 6, 2016 2:49 p.m.

JWiley129 says... #2

But it doesn't make sense for Emrakul to randomly show up on Innistrad. Story wise, it makes more sense to keep Emrakul out in the BE and a lurking threat for a later storyline than to put her in Innistrad and conflate the reemergence of Nahiri and Emrakul.

Do you guys think Skulk might become evergreen? It would make a great Blue/Black creature keyword. Also, all in favor of calling Duskwatch Recruiter "Bearwolf," cuz its a 2/2 for 2 werewolf and Werebear is taken?

February 6, 2016 2:55 p.m.

JWiley129 says... #4

Skulk is simple enough to be made evergreen, idk if it fits in Black though...

February 6, 2016 2:57 p.m.

DarkLaw says... #5

Watcher in the Web: OK, so it can block pretty well... Wait, seven? Not 'an'? ._.

Ah well, it's just decent filler in limited.

February 6, 2016 3:01 p.m.

DarkLaw says... #6

I don't know, Skulk allows black to undermine creatures's power.

February 6, 2016 3:06 p.m.

OmegaAura113 says... #7

What if its possible Nahiri somehow trapped and absorbed Emrakul's powers, letting her get revenge on Sorin and immensely boosting her own power? That or is luring it into Innistrad like I said before.(Didn't think Kor could live over 1000 years, even if they were a planeswalker - on top of the fact that she's now "distorting" things like Emmy does)

February 6, 2016 3:18 p.m.

Twanicus says... #8

Didn't emrakul die in roe? I recall a card depicting her smitten body layinhg lifeless in a field of somber yet relieved allies.

February 6, 2016 3:42 p.m.

JWiley129 says... #9

Nope, Emrakul is alive. Read the flavor text of Vestige of Emrakul.

February 6, 2016 3:43 p.m.

Harashiohorn says... #10

Planeswalkers being corrupted? Thats Never Happened before... Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas Oh wait, that exactly happened before with Bolas and Tezzeret, and Bolas is still roaming around free and unresolved since DTK... I feel like that might be more where we are going with Nahiri and everything, rather than something involving Emrakul. I think Emrakul is hanging out at the "OP Villains Bar" with the Phyrexians right now. They will come back, but in due time with an effort intensive set up, not just off something kind of gimmicky like Nahiri eating Emrakul. Bolas probably has Some interest in that silver moon everyone was... Actually though... Did Nahiri get trapped/trap herself inside the moon? I mean its silver, and metal-crafting was her M.O., maybe she felt compelled to seal herself off for some reason? Maybe Emrakul warped her mind or something? The flavor from the spoilers feels like a "Murder Mystery" kind of thing actually though, with Sorin, Tamiyo, Jace, Lliana, and Nahiri all very probably on Innistrad, and maybe Bolas or Garruk, you can have a whole "Who's destroying this world/killing the angels/Etc." thing going for the first half of the set. That would also fit real well with the clue mechanic.

All I want is a Ludevic for commander.

And to be good.

And Skulk to be for

Twanicus says... #12

JWiley129 the text doesnt say anything about her being alive or otherwise, and i raise you Near-Death Experience.

February 6, 2016 7:46 p.m.

JWiley129 says... #13

Twanicus - Oh friend, I'll see your 6 year old enchantment and raise you the Zendikar Art Book:

"Emrakul is the largest and undoubtedly the mightiest of the three known Eldrazi titans, drifting through the sky like a mountain unmoored from the bedrock. It appears that she recovered from her imprisonment more quickly than the other titans, and was the first to leave Zendikar in search of other planes to devour." - The Art of Magic the Gathering: Zendikar, pg. 32

"As glorious a victory as they had won, the members of the Gatewatch all knew that three Eldrazi titans had been unleashed upon Zendikar. Though Emrakul had not been seen in weeks, the third titan was still alive somewhere - perhaps slumbering in the earth or sea as Kozilek had been, perhaps on some other plane. the work of the Gatewatch was not yet done." - The Art of Magic the Gathering: Zendikar, pg. 205

Game. Set. Match.

I'm just hoping Tamiyo actually gets a character this time.

February 6, 2016 9:14 p.m.

Ruffigan says... #17

Did anyone notice the change to Madness? It says to discard the card into exile, and makes clear afterwards "Cast it for its Madness cost or put it into your graveyard".

EDIT: Just new formatting, sorry, my bad. Used to only using Grave Scrabbler.

February 6, 2016 9:51 p.m. Edited.

lemmingllama says... #18

@Ruffigan That's actually how it always worked, just that it wasn't explicitly stated on the cards. Also why would Grave Scrabbler be neutered? You get to stack your madness triggers, so you can discard a card and then madness the scrabbler to get it back.

February 6, 2016 9:55 p.m.

JWiley129 says... #19

Yeah, Madness works really weird. I play Madness in Pauper and the prompts for Madness are not super intuitive.

February 6, 2016 9:57 p.m.

Ruffigan says... #20

@lemmingllama: I've only used creatures with madness so I've never actually experienced having to exile the card. In my mind I was discarding the Grave Scrabbler into exile to get its ETB ability, trying to make it work, but that was obviously not correct.

February 6, 2016 9:59 p.m.

DarkLaw says... #21

I guess you could say that playing madness is... madness

Ancient jokes aside, people seem to be unable to believe that they would anticlimatically use all three titans in such a short space of time. And yet, Rosewater has been telling us for a little over a month that the original plan for the BFZ block was to have a set for each titan. This was before the change to two sets per block.

So, it isn't outlandish to have Emrakul chillin' on Innistrad- though it is curious that someone is using what appears to be Kozilek's magic.

McSleuthburger We may get one. I mean, what is Tazri but a 'petition' that worked for once?

February 7, 2016 11:20 a.m.

CheeseBro says... #25

please please please give us Tortured Existence! it could fit lorewise and is great with madness and delirium!!!

February 7, 2016 5:07 p.m.

Does no one else notice how awesome Delirium could be? In Modern, the requirement isn't that hard to reach, and Jund could get really good with some Madness toys.

February 7, 2016 5:28 p.m.

DarkLaw says... #27

It isn't hard, but it isn't something that always happens, like turn 1 eye of ugin for some reason.

February 7, 2016 5:46 p.m.

JWiley129 says... #28

It wholly depends on the Delirium cards. The ones we've seen so far are a Limited common and a Standard SB card. Let's wait and see what else we could get before we get ahead of ourselves.

February 7, 2016 5:49 p.m.

DarkLaw says... #29

And an actually pretty good flying demon, just without the actual keyword.

AgentGreen says... #31

I sense a very Lovecraft theme here

And because it's Lovecraft; plays very well that Emrakul could be the shadow; and that Nahri is under her influence.

So that means Sorin, Nahri, and Jace will be in play; with those 3 making up the first three planeswalkers in the block; leaving open speculation on who the next two will be

February 8, 2016 12:24 p.m.

AgentGreen says... #32

Delirium is an interesting mechanic; and really does make those exile cards from BFZ block more important; plus cards like Grave Birthing to slow down your opponent's ability to meet the requirements

On the marker card (the card with the checkboxes for double sided cards, can't remember the real name) it has Aberrant Researcher. Throwback to Delver of Secrets  Flip?

February 8, 2016 6:40 p.m.

DemonDragonJ says... #39

Why is Nahiri apparently appearing in this block? As a kor, would she not seem out of place in the humans-only Innistrad? And why does she seem to be desiring vengeance against Sorin? She cannot possibly be blaming him for the eldrazi attacking Zendikar, could she be?

I am definitely hoping for a new version of Avacyn in this block, and, hopefully, we shall finally see Tovolar, Edgar Markov, and Shilgengar, major characters from the story who have not yet appeared in the game.

February 8, 2016 10:29 p.m.

GoldGhost012 says... #40

More like she's pissed Sorin never came to Zendikar's aid as he had promised when the Eldrazi stirred many many years ago.

February 8, 2016 10:31 p.m.

Wizno says... #41

I'm with you DemonDragonJ, I'm just hoping we can see some of the major players from Innistrad that have made it into the flavor text but haven't been printed yet. I could see Tovolar being the legendary werewolf we've all been waiting for. I would love to see Edgar Markov be printed as the lore makes it sound like he's quite the badass and the current standard of Vampires could definitely use a lord to round things out. I'm hoping we could also see Ludevic and/or Standard legal printings of Stitcher Geralf and Ghoulcaller Gisa.

What do you all think the odds are of seeing updated versions of other major players from the previous Innistrad block? I would love to see a new Olivia Voldaren or Thalia, Guardian of Thraben.

RED/BLACK Nahiri Planeswalker card incoming?

"As Zendikar has bled, so will innistrad. As I have wept, so will Sorin."-Nahiri

Lightning Axe would get reprinted the set after Siege Rhino leaves. Now just give me an Invisible Stalker with Prowess or something similar.

February 9, 2016 1:43 a.m.

Wizno says... #46

So it looks like at least a couple of the latest spoilers on Mythic a Spoiler feature raven/crow imagery fairly heavily. Could we finally see the "Raven Man" printed in this block?!

February 9, 2016 9:51 a.m.

------ says... #47

Yeah, some funny people or bugs keep deleting all images I post, so here is the direct link:

The face of the woman in the background is what I mean.

Also, Lightning Axe + Fiery Temper with madness cost = (R)(R) : Destroy target eldrazi. Well, almost.

Agunman says... #48

Card

A sign? A glimmer of hope? Is Tamiyo actually getting a character?

February 9, 2016 11 a.m.

Tamiyo is already a Planeswalker and seeing as most Walker characters don't get Legendary Creature versions of themselves unless it's an origins story like they did with, well, Origins. Also, SOI is not an 'origin' story, so it's doubtful we'll get a Legendary Tamiyo. A new Tamiyo Walker card, quite possibly, but not a Legend.

February 9, 2016 11:14 a.m.

Agunman says... #50

I did not mean a new legendary creature, I meant that Tamiyo would actually be relevant to the story and have some sort of background, not just be some random soratami on Innistrad. Sorry for that confusion.
