Sorin, renewed?

It's late, but a thought just occured to me. Doug has stated that the effects of the Time Travel are limited to those on Tarkir - 'walkers in other planes won't be affected by the time shift.

But he didn't quite make clear WHEN they were supposed to be on Tarkir. Obviously Ugin and Sarkhan are going to be affected by the Time shift - Ugin lives, and Sarkhan has been warped back to his new version.

But what of Sorin (and perhaps Mr Bolas)? He was on Tarkir when Sarkhan traveled back in time - I wonder if that means he can be affected by the change as well.

Would make for an interesting duality - both a neo-Sarkhan and a neo-Sorin in DTK, showing us how Dragon broods instead of Clans altered them.

The plane would have been different when walker visited it throughout the past. any walker on the plane wouldn't change, they would just have a different experience. for example, when sorin goes to find ugin, instead of finding a skeleton, he will find a living, breathing, planeswalking, spirit dragon

Sorins lore is 100% deeper than the events of Tarkir. His grandfather was like the creator of all vampires or something like that. It would take a LOT to rewrite sorin's curse

his grandfather created the vampires on Innistrad only. and it wouldn't undo anything since Sorin is like 4000 years old, way older than as far back as they time traveled.

CommanderOfBolas as far as i know he only created Avacyn. I think he and his father were somehow made to vampires (I have no how this is dupposed to work without vampires being there in the first, there was probably some kind of demon involved) and then Sorin witnessed how his kind hunted the humans and he made Avacyn to protect them because he wanted to prevent the extinction of humans because then the vampires would have to hunt each other wich he wanted to prevent.

Thousands of years ago, before there were vampires on Innistrad, Edgar Markov was an alchemist in the land that would become Stensia. Famine was sweeping the land, and the old alchemist Edgar searched for a solution that could help the starving families feed themselves. The answer was a brutal one: to undergo a blood ritual that would cause some of the people to feed on blood. It would provide sustenance to those few, reducing demand for the failing crops, but it would also cull the overall population, reducing the number of hungry mouths to feed.

Thus were vampires born on Innistrad.

It's actually a bit more interesting,

"But Edgar Markov's chilling tale has an even darker truth behind it. The famine was an expedient excuse for Edgar's blood magic, but in truth the aging alchemist was experimenting with ways to achieve agelessness for himself and his only grandson, Sorin. A demon called Shilgengar preyed on Edgar's ambition and whispered secrets that would point the way toward Edgar's blood-feeding experiment. Shilgengar also helped the old man overcome his squeamishness at what must be done. Still, Edgar needed prodding for him to go through with the ritual to create the blood-feeders.

And that's when the famine put him over the edge.

The famine might or might not have been Shilgengar's doing.

Either way, it was the genesis of this world's vampires. With his blood magic experiment, Edgar succeeded at finding a way to extend his own life. He anointed Sorin with the same vampiric stateand shockingly, his grandson disappeared.

The trauma of the transformation had caused Sorin's planeswalker spark to ignite."

According to the wiki, Sorin basically said "fuck this" and left as soon as he became a Vampire. He later returned and was even more pissed to see that the vampires were hunting their former kin (humans) to extinction, so he created Avacin to watch over. The few, smarter vampires understood this, but the majority of innistrad vampires consider Sorin a traitor of the highest order.

Anyway, afterwards, Jace, Chandra and Sarkhan released the Eldrazi. Sorin, the new White Planeswalker from M15 EDH, and Ugin had to clean up their mess and lock them on Zendikar. Later, when they were about to escape, Sorin went looking for Ugin, saw his bones, didn't know how he died, and recruited Nissa and some other vamp dude who's an archeologist who's named begins with an A. Nissa is upset that Sorin allows this vamp to drink the blood of the goblin guides, and so instead of helping Sorin relock the Eldrazi up, decides, "Hey, these guys who have been locked up for centuries must have better things to do than destroy a planet, i'm gonna sabotage the ritual and free them". Turns out, the Eldrazi did NOT have better things to do, and proceed to blow up Zendikar. Sorin says "fuck this, you're on your own bitch" and leaves.

TL;DR Sorin's lore starts with "fuck this, i'm leaving" and currently ends with "fuck this, i'm leaving and going to Tarkir".

Oh, I didn't mean to imply that he would be as radically changed as Sarkhan or Ugin. Only that it will affect his timeline as well - he'll no longer be the 'Solemn Visitor' when he arrives, as Ugin won't be dead

Pretty sure Sorin, Nahiri, and Ugin first sealed the Eldrazi looooooong before Chandra. Jace, and Sarkhan were even born.

Yeah they sealed the Eldrazi before that Chandra, Jace and Sarkhan were the ones that broke the seal that Sorin, Nahiri and Ugin.
