... Bears. That is all.

weisemanjohn says... #11

Now bear in mind that bear punch has yet to bear itself to us. So this will definitely not be the last bear card and we could possibly have more bear token generators. The designers are smarter than your average bear you know, so why waste a token for only a single card.

...bear...(Purposeful misspellings)

((before I begin, apologies if I derail this thread, but this is an important topic that must be discussed. I know that many of you, including Femme_Fatale as a fellow activist, will agree.))

My only issue with this Bear's Companion is that it's companion is not an actual bear itself. I think there was a huge missed opportunity for WTC here to allow for a more progressive Bear card, and to take a step forward from the awful, slutty abomination that is the reprinting of Runeclaw Bear , a card that promotes a near impossible Bear Body Image (henceforth referred to as BBI) for young bears to aspire to.

I shouldn't need to break down why this disgusting travesty is a stain on WTC's bear record. The incredibly overlarge forearms, the tiny head, and especially the runic inscriptions (which are beyond all bear's reach, being that they have no opposable thumbs with which to write) are simply creating more unrealistic standards for young bears to follow.

This is, of course, following the Yeva, Nature's Herald scandal, which involved an image of a bear that is clearly bridled and subservient that WTC refused to take down despite what I assume was immense protest. What kind of message is that to send to young cubs, I ask you?!

So, in making a new bear card, (and with only 19 bears printed... 19, shame on you!) WTC had a huge opportunity to go back to the wonderful days of yore, where bears could be bears (like the wonderful River Bear or Golden Bear ) and not have stupid, awful objectification stamped all over them.

And we get this. At least it's not bridled, this time! sarcasm

Here, we have the same exact issues. Tattoos, subservience, a human master! It makes me sick.

This fetish that WTC has regard bears has to stop.

I'm just doing my part, trentfaris242. =)

I know there are people out there who care, like VampireArmy. We just need to get the word out.

VampireArmy says... #17

slovakattack are you even prepared for the jimmies you have rustled? Gonna be honest though, after my huge thread, i think i best to leave the game as it should be. Politics and gaming can make for really bad times on a site like this. I get the humor, I do but I think people like Bell and Femme might find it in bad taste.

Apoptosis says... #18

slovakattack, well said brother bear. But let us not forget the past sins and audacity of WotC in breaking all known child labor laws in facilitating the forced deaths of millions of young Bear Cub s! That atrocity is one for which we still seek a formal apology and reparations to all of those poor mother bears who needlessly lost their children to countless wraths, removal, and needless sacrifice. Their cries of loss and unrelenting anguish shall go unheard no longer! Bears unite!!!

September 9, 2014 3:13 p.m.

slovakattack hilarious!

Apoptosis: I agree wholeheartedly, my bear-in-arms. Our lip-flapping, spittle inducing roar shall pierce the heavens!

VampireArmy: I didn't actually mean for this to be a direct parody of 'that'. Because, this is serious, of course.

If it were taken in such a fashion thought... most reasonable can laugh at themselves (when jokes are made in good taste.) Femme_Fatale strikes me as one such person ;3

September 9, 2014 3:28 p.m.

VampireArmy says... #25

Understood. My line of thinking has been so messed up today!!! Hallows Eve window shopping and a new aristocrat demon scrambled my brain. Also that bear is too tall, too broad shoulders, no party hat????

September 9, 2014 4:05 p.m.

VampireArmy Mardu has been underwhelming so far overall, this is just so beautiful. I will make a Mardu deck probably though, I am the aggro player of my group. I just have to appreciate this card. Chase Uncommon? Lol

September 9, 2014 8:43 p.m.

This card is Geist of Saint Traft 2.0. A lot more expensive, no hexproof, and the bear doesn't fly, but with the benefit of having a permanent 4/4, and the fact that the 4/4 is a goddamn BEAR.

This guy and Surrak are not friends.
