Is it just me or has WotC been a little slow with the prerelease and spoiler cards this cycle. I mean with Theros we knew what the buy-a-box promo was by now.

I know! I was going to bring up this topic today if nobody else did. I am dying here. In MTG this is my favorite season! Its what started me blogging. Spoilers make me like a kid at Christmas! I thought for sure that we'd get a new years spoiler.

I am really hoping for a couple good ones this weekend. I might blow something up if we don't get one soon. And I never play simic colors, so kiora wasn't all that exciting to me

"Kiora is just a sneak peek at the Born of the Gods previews, which begin in earnest on Monday, January 13, and continue for two weeks until Friday, January 24. "

I'm fine with waiting. Since I primarily play MTGO I have to wait longer then everyone else to test with the new cards.

I was rather let down by Theros personally... I feel that devotion has a lot of potential but Bestow and Heroic just didn't do much for me. Monstrous is occasionally a blast.

Im just hoping there are some more exciting cards in Born of the Gods. Kiora is a good start. I like "build around me" cards. They offer a specific challenge for me to attempt.

I think it is important to know what is in set before you commit to buying boxes. With what we saw from Theros, which was not as disappointing as I expected, I will most likely playtest with proxies from what the spoilers show, but I expect to ultimately buy the singles I need instead of dumping $106 into a box to pull 1 or 2 of a what I want.

That said, Kiora is an amazing addition, and something that any control deck running green severely needed. She is a preemptive Maze of Ith that draws you cards, makes sure you don't miss land drops (or makes up for a missed drop), and then provides an amazing finishing ability. The way I see it playing out for myself at least...she will be replacing AEtherling in my Bant Control 2.0,

She hits around turn 6-7, I let my deck do what it does stalling out until I can make her emblem go off, then drop Supreme Verdict to keep the board clear. Pass...enter 9/9 Kraken...go head and stop me know since I will clearly have counter mana open. I see her preordering around 30 and being well worth it because even though few people seem to play it now, Bant control is very strong right now. I see her working incredibly well with BUG control, too. Not to mention, let's throw Thassa, God of the Sea in there and even if they put up a creature...you cant block my 9/9 anymore. Yea...really powerful...end rant.
