What do you guys think bout Springleaf Drum in standard since it was spoiled in born of the gods?

I see it being good in limited. Not standard. But I could be wrong.

Colors like U could use a cheap rock. Would help devotion decks splash too.

My first thought was R/B aggro, but it has anti-synergy with Tormented Hero , as he can't immediately use the drum, and also their haste dudes, as they'd rather the haste guys be attacking.
Maybe the monoblue deck could use it, but they already curve pretty well too... though they at least have some card draw, which makes a mana rock somewhat useful?
I mean the kind of deck this card fits into is the type of deck that wants to be spending a turn dropping 2+ creatures, but specifically creatures which don't ETB tapped (which stops them from using the drum) and creatures that don't already have haste (because you'd rather just attack with 'em). So there's certainly a place, I'm not sure what it is though. Maybe WOTC is trying to enable 4c Slivers XD

Since you have to tap the Drum itself it's kinda meh. Even if you splash a color in your almost mono-devotion decks it takes up a spot in your deck, which makes it unplayable in constructed imho. In limited it can be a nice fixer, even though there are better ones.

If there is a 0 drop like Memnite or Ornithopter , it might see a bit of play (I could see a first turn 2 for 1 having appeal in aggro), but there's better fixers, and with it needing to tap, it isn't much for acceleration, even with colors that don't normally have much.

Just talking color pie wise if it finds a place it will be in Blue or White most likely. I'm not convinced it will find a place though.

I think Born of the Gods is gonna have a theme around tapping creatures like Lorwyn did. With all the tap and target effects plus Springleaf Drum being reprinted, it seems possible.

I could imagine it works well in token decks, so boros or even izzet might be a candidate. I'm thinking of moves like tapping tokens created with Young Pyromancer to cast another spell, but that's just the first thing that comes to my head. Im sure there's a lot more it can do.
Of course, since I mostly play Legacy, I always like to see a good card reprinted.

I think it's possible that it could see some standard play since there are cards that share several card types at the moment. Probably nothing top tier but something that someone will find a way to at least make fun

I'm not convinced, at this point, that it'll really see play. We already have lots of ramp in the format through creatures, so why use this as well?
Of course, they could be printing it for a good reason other than getting more copies of the card out there for Modern players.
