SRS Forum rules (Read before posting)

Spoilers, Rumors, and Speculation forum

Absolutely no leaks.

Spoilers, Rumors, and Speculation (SRS) covers the following topics:

  • Speculative or spoiled cards for new sets
  • Rumors or speculation about future products
  • Rumors or speculation about new formats

SRS does not cover the following topics:

  • Economic speculation (see Economics)
  • Discussions about lore (see Lore)
  • Discussions about the future of a particular format, including bans, unbans, and decks (post in the forum specific to that format)

General rules:

  • When posting a thread, check the recent threads to see if the topic is already covered. If it is, post in the existing thread instead.
  • When posting a speculation about some upcoming product, card, format, etc., provide evidence or reasoning to support your opinion.
  • When posting spoilers, include an image of the card you're spoiling and a link to the source.

See, what I don't get is that the announcement above specifically states the following:

"Rumors or speculation about new formats"

But why? What's so terrible about someone, for example, creating a thread discussing how they think that cards released in the past year are indicative of Wizards moving towards card design that supports better gameplay in Frontier. That thread is essentially a dumb little theory about how Wizards will adopt Frontier somewhere down the line.

What's up with these rules? Because that thread's going to lead to a ban the way the rules are phrased. Or is that somehow ok but saying the same based off of the design of Ixalon cards is not?

None of this makes any sense. I get that hyper sensitive reaction to a certain extent, but this is pushing things to a comical extent.

Exactly TheDevicer and it's not like this page is the one supplying the leaks. The leaks ate on other sites and us not posting them here isn't gonna make them go away

I'm not sure what the conflict is. Discussions about new formats are explicitly allowed by the above rules.

But talking about the new cards isn't

No, talking about leaks is not allowed. Talking about spoilers, which are released by WOTC or with their authorization, is perfectly acceptable and encourages.

Don't post leaks and there won't be a problem.

Again, if you have a problem with this stance, direct your comments to the new thread specifically about our leak policy.

The announcement is hardly clear, Epo. You can interpret the first few lines in at least two ways.

  1. No leaks. Spoilers, Rumors, and Speculation (SRS) covers the following topics. That sounds like the second half is an extension of the first. With this approach in mind, the following three points are not allowed to be discussed.

  2. No leaks. Spoilers, Rumors, and Speculation (SRS) covers the following topics. Those two statements are separate. SRS allows discussion of the following three points.

This whole deal seems exceedingly silly. This has Beyonce's Half Time show written all over it.

Hello! I have a question about the following section here:

"When posting a thread, check the recent threads to see if the topic is already covered. If it is, post in the existing thread instead."

As of right now there is already a Modern Horizons thread, however; I'd like to make a specific speculation thread on this upcoming product asking players to post what cards they do not think will be reprinted in this product as well as what new cards might be included that mimic cards on the restricted list, for example; Fork & Reverberate . (I wish to ask the second part as players would never speculate whether a reserved list card would make it in the set unless this caveat is specifically mentioned in the post.)

I could post my question on the thread, but I feel people will largely overlook it, likely posting their speculation on what cards they'd want to include in their decks rather than creating a discussion on why particular cards shouldn't be in the set for their potential to warp the format or change the current meta in an unhealthy manner. That's to say I feel posting this topic as it's own thread would result in a different conversation than the one currently on the established post without detracting anything from it.

Does the specificality of my thread idea warrant the approval of a new thread to address this topic not currently being discussed, or would it not be allowed due to sharing a similar commonality to a previous thread regardless of how the matter is being addressed? Thanks!
