Straight off of Mythicspoiler.com:
Ha to all of you naysayers! (Actually, I didn't think it would happen either...)
There is, I think, already 2 threads about this but.....
YES! And that art is so F***ING BEAUTIFUL!
And that flavor-text!

August 31, 2014 11:19 a.m.
Cue everybody who swore up and down that there was no chance at all that there would be fetches in Khans backpedelling as hard and fast as they can.

Well, TBH, I was still kind of right, they didn't reprint zendikar fetches. :P
Regardless, I'm spending all of my money on boosterboxes of KTK now. All of it.
August 31, 2014 11:23 a.m.
@Devonin, Well we had a good reason to say that. Mark Rosewater himself told everyone that they wouldn't reprint the fetchest that soon. Forgot where he said it, but he did

I'll stick to using the Onslaught fetches that I have, but I'm pleased to see this happening.
August 31, 2014 11:29 a.m.
Welp. My plans for playing Standard are over. Time to draft non-stop until I have playlets of all of these.
August 31, 2014 11:35 a.m.
Everyone had me convicted it wasn't going to happen. Pretty stoked

This is going to be one of the most opened sets ever. I can see their prices taking a big hit despite being Modern and Standard legal.
August 31, 2014 11:40 a.m.
and people were worried about the new standard format making standard expensive to play... hahaha.
August 31, 2014 11:59 a.m.
Fetches really wont be a standard staple just saying

EmblemMan, explain to me how they won't be a staple?

I can't wait to rip up all my friends fetches and shove up them up my ass just to make the value of mine go up.
August 31, 2014 1:03 p.m.
Onslaught Fetches have already dropped 33% and Zendikar 15%. I can't wait to pull FOIL FETCHLANDS!!!!!
August 31, 2014 1:14 p.m.
quesobueno123, you should definitely see someone about that impulse.
EmblemMan, I also want to know why Fetches won't be standard staples.
Everyone else, what does this mean for Enemy Fetches? I really really need those instead. :( I'm so upset by this....especially since Misty Rainforest fits so well in the current wedges. BUG and RUG got screwed a little I think.

Time to start mainboarding Ob Nixilis, Unshackled . And speccing on it.
August 31, 2014 1:17 p.m.
People thought they would reprint the actual fetchlands that exist in modern, not the onslought fetches. This was a curveball. Something they said they'd do eventually, but we didn't think they'd do yet.
August 31, 2014 1:21 p.m.
Modern jund just got a lot better. I also remember wotc saying that they were going to avoid printing half cycles of lands in the future, so maybe we can expect the enemy fetches to show up in tbe third set. But hey, modern's mana base just got a lot more diverse.

OK, here's what I'm thinking:
FIRST OF ALL OH MY FRIKKIN' GOD THEY'RE PRINTING FETCHLANDS IN KTK. TIME TO BUY MULTIPLE BOOSTER BOXES. RIGHT NOW. GOD.
Secondly, Zendikar and Onslaught fetches just got a whole lot cheaper. However, I expect that they'll recover, because they're originals.
Third, Ob Nixilis, Unshackled is about to become a standard staple. That monster was printed to hose these fetches.
Fourth, Wizards probably did this because it will help shocklands retain value. They aren't standard, but they just got a lot better in Modern. Stock up on shocks now, people.
Fifth, only KTK is a wedge set. The other two sets in the block are not. And, judging by the draft order, Tarkir has some weird history. Maybe Set 3 is allied, Set 2 is a transition set, and Set 1 (KTK) is wedge. Thus, enemy fetchlands might be printed in Set 3 to keep things interesting in standard. (Probably not, but crossing my fingers that it will).
Also, if they're going to do this, there is no way DRS should ever be unbanned. However, because of the crazy amount of money it could potentially make Wizards, it probably will be (once again, unlikely, but I have a NM copy of it and I want that value spike).
August 31, 2014 1:54 p.m.
The new art on them isn't fantastic, but I think it might be better.
Also wizards havent actually said that only KTK is a wedge set - they've just said that the entire block won't be wedges. That could mean many different things.
These new fetches have little to do with DRS. DRS was happily run in rock which had all of its fetchlands anyway.
At one point the old shocklands hovered between $30 to $40 each. Since ReturnTRavnica they (like the reprints) have been like $10-$15. They won't recover whilst the originals are in standard - which is 24 months.

I honestly don't think this makes Ob Nixilis, Unshackled any better, nor does Ob hose fetches. Given that there is only one on-color fetch for each wedge, I assume the average number of fetches in a Standard deck will be four. On top of that, any fetches played before turn six are still just as good. It's incredibly easy to play around Ob Nixilis with your fetchlands; just play them in the early turns. All he does is turn the tiny number of fetches left in your deck into dead draws, and honestly, usually a land after turn six is a dead draw anyway.
August 31, 2014 2:15 p.m.
At the risk of sounding like someone making shit up I totally called this set having Onslaught fetches before Dragon's Maze was released. No shocks, fetches are oft talked about barrier to Modern, both directly and indirectly increases the available number of fetches for various decks. It wasn't anything hard and fast but it honestly was what I was hoping would happen.
Also, on an unrelated note, Courser of Kruphix of super great town is here to gain you life and block some stuff.
August 31, 2014 2:39 p.m.
Also, just checking to see if I remember how to stop the wave of bold text that is moving down the page.
I won't post after this because it will be very clear if I succeeded or failed. haha
August 31, 2014 2:41 p.m.
CastleSiege says... #42
Dritz, Courser of Kruphix won't be gaining you any life from fetches unless you have more than one in play. He will be negating the loss of life from using fetches though which is still great :)
August 31, 2014 2:45 p.m.
Well, technically speaking assuming you have the Courser already. You'll play a fetch, gain 1. Pay 1, find a land, it ETB, you gain another 1. You'll still net 1 from a new fetch. Now, if they were there first then you are correct net zero on that life total there. :P
