Ugin in Khans?

Spoilers, Rumors, and Speculation forum

So, If I recall correctly, Ugin is a Planeswalker and a master of Colorless magic. He is also said to be dead (Killed by Bolas?), but is supposed to be the voice that Sarkhan hears while he is going crazy.

Now that Morph has been revealed as a Mechanic for the Block, does anyone else thing that this is a flavor indicator of Ugin's presence - Morph being true "Colorless", nameless, sub-typeless creatures.

No necessarily in Planeswalker form (but hopefully), but possibly just as an overarching influence on Tarkir.

Seeing as there is supposed to be a 'Time-travel" aspect to this Block, perhaps he may be a Planeswalker in the 2nd or 3rd set?

Thoughts?

I think it is a safe assumption that we will be seeing Ugin in some form in the block.

where did they reveal that morph would be a mechanic in the new block? I had not seen that.

@ abenz419 it was revealed at SDCC 2014, can't link the source right now.

I'd love to see some Ugin :)

He has been popping up a lot, and in a plane that seems to be preparing for the return of dragons in general. I wouldn't be surprised if he came back along with the others in some kind of Skyrim style shit show. He may pop up as a planeswalker, but I wouldn't be surprised If he didn't either. We can already assume that we will get a new Sarkhan as a planeswalker, throwing another brand new planeswalker in the same block seems out of the ordinary. But sign me up for Ugin as well.

We're time traveling, so it's a lot safer to assume we'll see Ugin, even if Bolas has already killed him.

It's said in the lore that Nicol Bolas incapacitated Ugin, "possibly" killing him. I'm gonna say that he was just injured, and he will be part of the solution to the Eldrazi problem since he solved it the first time.

DarkHero I'm not following your logic. Are you saying that you expect the other planeswalkers to be reprints because Sarkhan will have a new iteration? That seems a lot more out of the ordinary than vice versa.

I don't think it was outright stated that Bolas killed Ugin, but it is implied.

The events happened "off camera" (so to speak), so it's very possible for Ugin to return. It would be cool to have another colorless Planeswalker, but I hope it's a bit more balanced than Karn Liberated .

DarkHero Xenagos and Ashiok were both brand new planeswalkers introduced in the same block, so I'm not sure why you would think that that's weird for them to do.

jr92_2000 I meant in terms of Ugin being a never before seen planeswalker and Sarkhan showing up right at the same time as we get new Garruk. Just seems like we would be running into a ton of new planeswalkers in a short period of time. Especially with having just gotten Kiora, the Crashing Wave as a brand new walker in Theros. Defiantly seems like they are trying to increase the planeswalkers role in games, but that might be overkill.

meecht your right. it was assumed that Bolas killed him and Bolas himself seems pretty convinced of it, but it was never really confirmed.

But Cobthecobbler your right. Like I said it's just kind of feels like a lot to me personally. Maybe I'm weird.

We may also be time traveling to the past where we may run into a younger Ugin. Present Ugin may be dead, but they could bring the younger Ugin back if/when they transport dragons forward in time to present day.

That's right, we also got Kiora. We got both Ashiok and Xenagos in the same set just recently.

Technically, Kiora wasn't new . She already existed, just never as a card.

GoldGhost012 well yeah thats the point. New in terms of being on a card. Ugins never been on a card either so his printing would make him new.

It's just standard practice for each block. RTR had three new characters (Vraska, Ral Zarek, Domri) and two new cards for returning planeswalkers (Jace, Gideon). Seems safe to expect at least 5 new planeswalker cards in this block.

jr92_2000, that seems to be the formula. Theros had three newbies and Ajani and Elspeth. So Khans will most likely have Vol, possibly Bolas, returning with possibly Ugin as a newbie. Any speculation on other walkers we could see?

Possibly Chandra, since I don't think she's been in a block since Zendikar.
