If Wotc decides to do another Modern Event Deck what archetype do you think they'll likely do? What's your personal pick?

If they did affinity, it would be done ghetto list with maybe 1 opal at the most

They have to do something cheap yet effective. This could be burn or goblins. We need a reprint of goblin guide because the price recently has become ridiculous. Could do affinity and put in a single opal. Could do merfolk.

I agree with Chief, Burn would be really good to lower the price on Goblin Guide

Burn, Blue tron (though there's a lot of good rares that would be hard to reprint), mono green tron (same problem), infect, burn, slow-finity (sans opals, maybe some Frogmite type things in there), Merfolk, Boggles, or storm. I think that those, right now, are the only viable options for the deck.
The most likely would probably be merfolk, boggles, storm, and burn.

I doubt storm, it's a little too complicated to be an intro deck. My bet is Bogles because it's simple, cheap, effective, and has good reprint potential (hello Daybreak Coronet ).

That's true. Forgot to take into account that this is for new modern players. Storm would fit the bill if there were an easier process to it.
While Boggles is a very likely option, I really hope it doesn't happen. I hate playing against that deck...

I'm thinking U/G or U/B/G infect...
It's a cheap yet effective deck that is slowly dwindling in popularity, and could do with an upsurge like the one B/W tokens got when it was released.
It's perfect for getting new players into Modern, as it uses an interesting effect that makes players feel like they are starting off ahead of the game. - It's a simple strategy in theory that can be quite a challenge to fine tune.
The few 'expensive' cards in it would include Noble Hierarch (Maybe 2?), a Sword (not that any are that great for the deck), and possibly a Spellskite or 2 in the Sideboard. - Perhaps, since Fetchlands are being reprinted, Verdant Catacombs or Misty Rainforest .

I'd say it will be burn to counteract the ridiculous price of Goblin Guide or Bant hatebears to counteract Noble Hierarch and Snapcaster Mage.

The crying would be from the people who want to get into Modern, but can't afford a $600 to $800 Modern event deck.

Here's an idea for the next From the Vault, Wizards: FTV Goyf.

Omg.... I just hope they aren't reprinting Goblin Guide any time soon. Just bought a playset.....

I think UR Delver is doable, as pretty simple and straightforward, and is a fairly cheap deck to assemble.

UR Delver sans Snapcaster, Fetches, and cryptic command isn't exactly the same deck, but a variant of that is plausible.

Why couldn't they reprint Snapcaster Mage if they did a Delver deck? Iit clearly wouldn't be the 4 of that it needs to be, but it certainly seems printable.
Without Snapcasters, what would it have to offer to justify the price tag? Remand (which will see a reprint with the Jace/Chandra duel deck) and Serum Visions ?

My top three guesses are Infect, Burn and Boggles. Relatively cheap, effective and easy ish to run but like most decks hard to master.
