What will replace the Khans in DTK...?

I do believe I have caught a whisper of what will replace our iconic clan-leading Khans in Dragons of Tarkir... Dragonlords!

Check out the M files article from the mothership today : http://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/latest-developments/m-files-fate-reforged-2015-01-16

Under the discussion of Monastery Siege, it seems like the second mode of the siege cycle was going to be called "dragonlords."

I mean, they might change the names in the interim, or that's what they might have called the two-color dragons from FRF, but it's still a possibility, eh?

I think this is a reasonable assumption really. If not dragonlord then some other khan form of dragons

Brood mothers/sires maybe, the dragons are referred to as broods so it could fit.

If we stay with the Khans as the legends for the set, Taigam (a formed Jeskai monk who converted to Sultai, referenced on Taigam's Scheming and Shambling Attendants) could have never gone to the Sultai and become the khan of the Jeskai. As for dragons, I'd be glad for some more dragon legends as long as they all don't push dragon tribal.

I think that it would be cool to see enemy colored dragon legends, like the opposite of the allied dragons legends (mardu would be RW, abzan would be WB, Sultai would be GB, Jeskai would be RU, and Temur would be GU)

I agree with scopesightzx except I hope their abilities differ slightly from the other dragons. Like how the elder dragons did, with the first five involving the number of permanents in a color or number of cards in hand of a certain color, then the others didn't depend on that. Hopefully it doesn't just push dragons attacking as the others did.

What I really hope for is 3 cycles of legendary creatures: the 5 enemy colored dragons (with how it was described for color), 5 semi khans (my ideas was Taigam's for Sultai, Chianul for Temur, and then some others with lore references for the others) and then 5 nonhuman legendary creatures (an Abzan Orc/Aven, a Jeskai Efreet/Djinn, a Sultai Rakshasha/Naga, a Mardu Orc/Goblin, and a Temur Elemental/Ainok). At least I think it'd be cool.

I believe we will see alternate versions of the previous khans. There is a ugin's fate card that has a quote from surrak huntmaster instead of Surrak Dragonclaw

i also think it'll be alternate versions of the khans now, maybe with some sort of dragon vibe going on with each of them. maybe this time the khans will be more like generals than actual leaders who go out and do the bidding of their clan's dragon ruler. would be cool if lore-wise the dragons imbue the khans with some power, represented by various activated abilities.

I think they will be more like the frf khans lore wise. Maybe since it isn't a wedge block the khans will drop a color.

I wouldn't be surprised if we see Narset as a Boros Planeswalker.

Hmm, Boros? Narset seems more Azorius to me (of course, alternate reality Narset could be Boros).

i see narset as izzet as it storms off of instants and sorceries.

And before you people call me stupid I DO know the narset is any non creature spell

I say Boros because of the Archives article about her. It seemed like she personally was somewhat resistant to the meditative (read:Blue) aspect of Jeskai. New versions could imply that she never really acquired that aspect, and would be more Red/White.

So I'm guessing because of history being altered is why her spark ignites this time? Something that happens as a result of the dragons not dying off, like getting attacked by one I'm sure would do it. Maybe that's it and as a result she now hates dragons lore wise puts her at odds with Sarkhan? Which could make her W/U.....

it will not be izzet. There are already two izzet walkers. only one of each boros and azorius if im not mistaken. i would love to see a new Venser, the Sojourner.

The upcoming set will have 5 two-colored mythic dragonlords to replace the Khans. This is evidenced by the article Khan fall where all the FRF Khans are either killed or become allied to the legendary dragons. They gave up one of their colors for the alliance with the dragons. So we should see a set with 5 two-colored clans. This leads me to speculate the next block will be the other 5 two-color ed combinations. FRF Khans could be used in both the new clans and a "clan" from the next set.
