which will see a reprint first?

I'm looking for a single copy of Liliana of the Veil and a copy of Snapcaster Mage.

I know they have very different prices. But I would like to know which one of the two do you think will see a reprint first? Honestly just a curiosity question.

I'm going to make a very wild guess and hope that Liliana will be reprinted in Battle for Zendikar. Why? Her "target player sacrifices a creature" loyalty ability works so well against those damn eldrazi.

PS. Dont say maybe they will get printed in Modern Masters 2015. It isn't happening.

Well neither are happening in MM2015 b/c Innistrad isn't in the scope of MM2015.

Liliana of the Veil almost got reprinted in M15, but she was too good. So I wouldn't bank on her getting printed in BFZ. Plus, Liliana has zero reason to be anywhere near Zendikar.

If I had to bet, they will be reprinted in the 3rd MM, or maybe earlier in some supplemental set. That is, of course, if you aren't counting the RPTQ promo Liliana of the Veil being a reprint.

I don't see Liliana being reprinted soon. Not in a standard set at least. The new Liliana, Heretical Healer version is supposed to be her "replacement" (look at her +2), or at least that's how I see it. I'd probably say the same for Snapcaster, simply because flashback isn't an evergreen ability. Maybe if we have a Return to Odyssey or something. Otherwise it would be in a block that has flashback in it.

Moved.

Liliana of the Veil likely won't ever see a reprint. Specific versions of planeswalkers represent snapshots of that actual character at some point within the game's lore. As the lore develops, so do the planeswalkers. It's highly unlikely that we'll see a reprint of Liliana of the Veil outside of a special reprint set like Modern Masters, and its price makes it an unlikely choice for precons because it would lead to exorbitant price gouging. It's even an unlikely choice for an Event Deck reprint because it consumes a large amount of the value that might be better spent across multiple slots.

Snapcaster Mage is unlikely to ever see a reprint outside of those same cases, but this time because it's a very powerful design with limited representation in the design space.

Epochalyptik: It's much more likely that they'll get a reprint in a special set. If they do, it is 100% likely they will be reprinted together.

So my answer'd have to be... at the same time :P

Snapcaster would need to comeback in a standard environment with flashback as a mechanic and LotV is too powerful for standard. I think they'll be reprinted in MM3, that makes the most sense.

I stand by ftv: reserved

FTV: Reserved would be great. The box would feature Garfield crying because of breaking the promise to maintain the reserved list.

Anyway, they'll probably both be in MM3 or some special thing like that if there ever is a reprint. Snappy might be fine for Standard, but probably not. Lili OTV will never be in a Standard set again.

Maybe I'm misremembering but lili wasn't even that powerful in standard, or at least inn/rtr, I didn't play in som/inn so I can't speak for then. Also, liliana vess was just reprinted so old versions of planes walkers can certainly be reprinted.

Chubbub - I believe the reason Liliana of the Veil wasn't so powerful in Standard was because of Lingering Souls being very prevalent in the metagame.

Also, just look at how good Lili is on Modern/Legacy. She is certainly powerful. Especially in a Standard metagame coming off Mono-Black being the best deck and Thoughtseize still being in Standard.

Lili is not too good in standard so long as they dont mke her too powerful they only stalled her reprint because they made black already powerful once theros rotates another color could be more powerful and warrant a reprint

Wasn't Lingering Souls banned in standard?

kmcree says... #17

I believe it was only banned in Innistrad block constructed? Not Standard constructed.

@APPLE01DOJ

No, Lingering Souls was not banned in Standard, it was (and still is) banned in "Innistrad Block" format.
