What are peoples thoughts in regards to Elvish Mystic getting a reprint or something equivalent being made. Such a simple staple.
I know we have Honored Hierarch but I think activating its Renowned ability may be tricky
Yeah, Wizards thinks t1 ramp is a bit too powerful for standard and limited. Leaf Gilder is the replacement.

Well,at least it's 2/1. Rattleclaw Mystic and Whisperer of the Wilds will probably begin to see more play, too.

Thanks Guys. Where has wizards discussed this?
I wonder why now. Its legal till October and all the Tarkir ramp and it have been overlapped for a while.

Because unless you're going to ban Elvish Mystic you need to wait for it to rotate. And you can't not print ramp in intervening sets.
But largely, it's just because R&D has done more thinking on what they want standard to look like; similar to how we don't see much 2cmc unconditional removal anymore.

Actually they got away from unconditional cheap removal spells because they said it was too great of a tempo play. Players were spending their whole turn to cast creatures, but the decks that carried the removal were able to answer that and play their own threat in the same turn. This actually took away from the viability of some decks and created situation like RTR-THS standard where there wasn't any variety in the decks being played.
So their solution to this problem was to make unconditional removal cost more. By doing this people now have to think and make decisions on their turns. Instead of being able to regularly answer your opponents threat and play something equally as threatening in the same turn, now you must decide... do you take a turn off to kill your opponents creature or do you play your own threat this turn and try to remove it next turn. This allows the game to be more interactive for both players (even if it's just through combat) and allows more archetypes to thrive creating the diverse standard we are seeing right now.

they've also known elf tribal would be a thing in origins for some time, so i'd think they're being careful what 1-mana accelerators (that are also elves) are in standard while the other powerful elf cards are around.
i doubt there will never be a 1-mana mana dork ever again, but it would make sense for the next year or so.

I think this should have been anticipated. Moving wrath effects from 4 mana to five mana without getting rid of one drop mana accelerants would not have been fair. They want combat to be more interactive.

Yes, I meant more in terms of the process than the reasons for it.

Nope. T1 mana dorks is not going to be a thing right now to avoid ramp getting out of control
