XxXScorpionXxX,
I know it's obvious, but not everyone on this thread is a guy. Sure, I know "guys" is a gender-neutral term in many areas, but it's not everywhere. Thanks!

What would be a better term for referring to a group of people? I've heard girls call out to their friends "hey guys" I never thought it was anything but gender neutral.
August 7, 2016 3:51 p.m.
XxXScorpionXxX,
On T/O, I usually use "all" or "everyone". IRL, I usually use "y'all" :-)
Bottom line, IMO: More inclusive = more better.
August 7, 2016 4:06 p.m.
XxXScorpionXxX says... #8
I'll keep that in mind. Anyway do y'all have any suggestions one how to make my deck more competitive?
I was almost thinking of going Coco with 28-32 creatures.

Here's how I would write your Comment above, if you don't want to use "y'all":
"I'll keep that in mind. Anyway does anyone have any suggestions on how to make my deck more competitive?"
August 7, 2016 5:09 p.m.
Not standard but my modern werewolf deck has been doing well :) just a little update. 2-2 at modern fnm is pretty good, stands well against affinity, tron and infect. jund is a little hard, i won with a top deck coco but otherwise was lucky with top decks. i beat eggs even. the matches i am losing are the matches where i get mana screwed, which happens a fair amount until i checked and there was 20 land! not enough at all. (the two matches i lost at fnm this week was jund but went 1-2 against them at least)
it definitely surprises people.

Hey all! I am wondering if an Aggro werewolves collected company deck would work well in EMN Standard. G/R Werewolves Aggro Company
I thought about replacing some of the creatures with instants and putting Mirrorwing Dragon. Any input is welcome thanks!
August 8, 2016 noon
Trying to do CoCo and Mirrorwing+instants at the same time won't work well. You'd be better off focusing on one or the other.
August 8, 2016 12:20 p.m.
whompkin do you have any suggestions on improving the company deck?
August 8, 2016 12:52 p.m.
Quick ruling question; does a spell like Atarka's Command (Creatures you control get +1/+1 and gain reach until end of turn) trigger Silverfur Partisan's ability?
August 8, 2016 2:23 p.m.
lukeobannan says... #16
No, Atarka's Command does not target a creature, and Silverfur Partisan is triggered by a spell that targets.
August 8, 2016 3:23 p.m.
So basically, unless the spell specifically states "target creature" Silverfur Partisan won't trigger?
You have to excuse me, I'm still green. :)
August 8, 2016 3:43 p.m.
Ye Olde Magic Targeting Rule Clarification. For a spell, ability or anything in magic to Target something, the word "Target" must specifically be used on the card. Blanket effects and even "Choosing" doesn't actually Target.
For exmaple: Bolster 1. (Choose a creature with the least toughness among creatures you control and put a +1/+1 counter on it.) Sense the word Target isn't used, Bolster doesn't "Target" and wouldn't trigger Silverfur.
Wizards is generally better about wording than they used to be, but the simple answer is: Yes, the card must say "Target."
Unrelated
For my part, as a native of New England, if you are from certain parts of the country, you generally hear "guys" used 100% gender neutral. It was only after I moved out of New England that I ever had anyone look at me weird for using "Guys" to refer to a group that included women. Neither party should take offense, just a bit of culture shock brought to us by the wonderful bridging device, the internet.
August 8, 2016 4:14 p.m. Edited.
kshock68,
Exactly right. And no problem at all on being !
By the way, one thing that some new players don't realize: Silverfur triggers "Whenever ~ becomes the target ...". Since targets are chosen and Wolf tokens are put onto the battlefield as the spell is cast, that can lead to some interesting effects. For example, you get the tokens even if the spell doesn't resolve. And some spells, if they do resolve, can really benefit from the extra token(s) ([cough] Might of the Masses [cough]).

Looking for help with this deck want to run it on game day. Not using a lot of wearewolves cause getting them to stay flipped is hard where I play (lots of blue white spirit decks with low mana cost. Most of them stay getting 2 to 3 spells off easily and the aggro decks I face have no problem casting two spells on their turn) I use timberpacks as the brutes here trying to get 4 out with sigil of valor and the stoneforged master work to get a big swing in. Then assembled alphas as a back up for the 3 damage to blockers was thinking of trying to get the shield that gives vigilance on them to use them as attackers and blockers. Side board was set up to hurt flyers. So far the deck is 50/50. I'd love any suggestions or feedback to try to place on game day since its the last tournament around here before rotation and I lose timberpacks.
August 8, 2016 5:28 p.m.
yea the gender neutral thing of "guys" is the same in australia no matter what part you go to. example "hey guys whats up?" the other one we use is mate, everyone is our mate in australia even if they arent your "mate", example "hey mate how was the footy last night".

Why doesn't Messenger show the "flip" next to its name the way all the other flip cards do? Is this a glitch with the site?

Hello all,
Looking for a little help with the deck, but (so far) it is the fastest thing on 2 legs I can make. I still like to keep the extreme pressure and aggro feel. The sideboard needs the most help, it is still the same as it was back when it was just a gruul dragons deck. that being said, maybe go for a burn sub-theme in the SB? Let me know what you think, and don't be afraid to hurt my feelings, I can take it!

Howdy folks, looking for advice on what to do to make my deck(s) a bit more competitive without having to spend a ton. I've avoided Collected Company as it'll be rotating out soon, and dumping $70-80 on four cards for FNM is probably not a good idea.
I was thinking about replacing the Ulvenwald Captive Flips with Nissa, Vastwood Seer Flip, but she's pricey and Origins will be out soon as well.
Any advice is appreciated, thanks.

Hey guys. So I took my wolf deck to a game day today and they did pretty well if I do say so myself so I thought I'd give the tournament report and repost my list.
Match 1 vs Redwhitegreen control (feat. dragonlord atarka, chandra, nahirim, Gisela, dec in stone etc.) Wolves win 2-0, his deck was just too slow and didn't sweep my board fast enough had wrecked him by like turn 6 both games.
Match 2 vs BW control (the Pro-tour winning deck with Liliana, Obnix etc.) Wolves lose 2-0, such a horrendous match up, coupled with really poor starts resulted in a crushing defeat. Only positive thing I can say is display of dominance put in work in game 2!
Match 3 vs Aristocrats with coco. Wolves win 2-1. Pretty close match up but they struggle with the speed of the deck and Howlpack Resurgence gives them a really hard time. Spirit of the hunt flashing in and blocking sylvan advocate hurts them a fair bit. Advice wise, never let the duskwatch recruiters flip in their upkeep and kill the zulaport cutthroat as fast as possible!
Match 4 vs mono-red burn/thermo alchemist turbo Wolves win 2-0. Basically, I managed to kill thermo alchemist before it did too much damage every time using moonlight hunt and arlin, embarced by the moons 3 damage ability. This burn deck struggles without it and Spirit of the Hunt puts in mad work saving wolves from all of their damage based removal.
Match 1 of top 4 cut vs Bant Control Wolves win 2-0. Somehow I scraped the top 4 cut off 3 out of 4 wins and was matched against this undefeated guy. Fortunately for me I had very nice aggressive starts, he lost a sylvan advocate to a blocking spirit of the hunt once or twice and didn't draw enough land really in both games so WOLVES MADE TOP 2 WOOOOO!
Match 2 of top cut (finals) vs. Demonic Pact (yep that's right) Wolves lose 2-1. I can't even believe how close this was, the guy was undefeated and had trashed the guy playing the pro-tour number 1 deck. Game 1 I got him down to six life, then he gave me demonic pact for the loss. Game 2 I drew like a God (destroyed one demonic pact with display of dominance), played super agressively and beat him by something like turn 6. Game 3, he opened amazingly played the first demonic pact and I thought I might be able to win before he was able to give it to me for game (I had him at about half life-ish I think), unfortunately he played a second demonic pact meaning that (due to the life gain effect) the turn before he gave me the first one for game I could only get him down TO 1 LIFE!!!
So all in all a pretty good day for wolves which ended up in 2nd place!
List is below (side didn't have decimator of provinces as it didn't arrive in time and had a 3rd Ulrich instead. Will be finding space for a 3rd display of dominance in the sideboard after today)

Hey everyone.
So we have this regular who's a returning MTG player, but he's recently come up on hard times so he wasn't able to make his deck in time for Game Day. He was pretty down about it.
So my friend and I decided to pitch in for this guy (he knows him), and we decided to make him a Werewolf deck (because he told my friend that it's what he wants to run). As an act of paying it forward to the community, we made this deck for him called Decimator Wolves.

So, after looking through 'Take The Crown' there were 7 reprinted cards and a single new wolf creature card that caught my eye as being possibly useful for wolven decks.
Fang Of the pack The only new wolf creature in the set.
Irresistible Prey Using this to trigger a Silverfur Partisan + Zada, Hedron Grinder combo could be really strong.
Burn Away Good sideboard card for any deck really, end's delirium decks on the spot.
Gruul War Chant Maybe a good late game sweeper card if you can get a few strong flipped wolve's out.
Beast Within Imagine turning a freshly summoned Emrakul, the Promised End into a 3/3 beast. sound good for a sideboard.
Flame Slash Cheap Removal.
Lace with Moonglove Looks really damn good with Silverfur Partisan + Zada, Hedron Grinder , Giving your whole board deathtouch and spawning token's.
Berserk Another great card for the combo, Wipe out everything with Silverfur Partisan + Zada, Hedron Grinder
If anything else from the set stands out to you please share :)
August 25, 2016 1:58 a.m.
Yashima, Conspiracy cards are not legal in Standard/Modern unless they were printed in a Standard legal set. Those cards are all good, but they will not be usable in Standard.
Also, Emrakul, the Promised End has protection from instants, so Beast Within would not be able to target her.

so does anyone have thoughts on Zada, Hedron Grinder\Mirrorwing Dragon+Silverfur Partisan and then casting a Make Mischief targeting zada or mirrorwing to put x devil and x wolves onto the battlefield where x is the number of wolves that were targeted. also Make Mischief does work since it only targets one creature and produces a token afterwards
August 28, 2016 9:50 a.m.
It's the first i have heard of it, and it should work well. for the zada-silverfur combo I personally prefer playing 1 mana instants, so i can drop zada and target him on the same turn before he gets removed. Once that's done you usually have the game in the bag, in my experience anyway.
August 28, 2016 10:45 a.m.
VexxValentine,
I love the effect, but prefer Dual Shot to Make Mischief.
August 28, 2016 11:59 a.m.
VexxValentine says... #42
well Dual Shot doesnt work if youre trying to ping something of yours while hitting another creature, since then the mode of the spell will be 2 targets and not 1 target
August 29, 2016 7:46 a.m.
VexxValentine,
Right. You have to set the "up to two" clause to "one" :-)
August 29, 2016 8:09 p.m.
The problem is that each copy of Dual Shot is required to target only one as well. You don't get to select second targets for each copy. Every copy has to do the same as the first, so all you get from this is 1 damage to all of your creatures. Make Mischief on the other hand creates a creature for every target, a creature that deals 1 damage when it dies.
August 30, 2016 8:16 a.m.
Dual shot is for silverfur. You get a wolf token for each wolf targeted by dual shot. with zada in play you get X wolves, but when he's not you typically get 2 of them.
I think Make Mischief + Mirrorwing Dragon would be good in a mono-red deck with more devils, so they blow each other up.
August 30, 2016 9:17 a.m.
If it's for Silverfur+Zada, why would I choose Dual Shot over Expedite, Rush of Adrenaline or Titan's Strength?
August 30, 2016 9:26 a.m.
Because you don't need zada in play to get 2 tokens for 1 mana at instant speed. I run more copies of Might of the Masses and Titan's Strength in my deck, but Dual Shot has its uses.
August 30, 2016 9:32 a.m.
I've never seen anyone use Second Harvest with the Silverfur Partisan + Zada, Hedron Grinder combo, (or Mirrorwing Dragon )I'll test it later and see how well it works, sounds like a way to double a ton of tokens.
August 30, 2016 6:02 p.m.
In that situation would't casting a spell like might of masses targeting zada be more effective than Second Harvest? Not only would you get a copy of each wolf token, you get a wolf token for each non-token wolf plus the stat bonus the spell provides to all creatures.
August 31, 2016 5:37 a.m.
For me, the single most direct path to victory with Silverfur+Mirrorwing involves Might of the Masses and Shrill Howler Flip. The idea being to ramp up crazy numbers with Silverfur and Mirrorwing and get a massive Shrill Howler that is basically unblockable. Shrill Howler Flip also works as a great plan B if the combo gets prevented, he can still make great use of power buffing spells and steal the game.
The problem the Silverfur+Mirrorwing/Zada combo faces in standard is that all of the top decks run enough spot removal to prevent the combo from activating. With Reflector Mage, Declaration in Stone and all of the black and red spot removal out there, you basically should not plan on any threatening creature you played during your turn, surviving your opponents turn. Especially with how much of the spot removal is creature based, which means Silverfur and Mirrorwing's abilities don't trigger. To me, the best chance to win is to drop them both on the same turn with mana left over to combo with so opponents don't have time to prevent it.
This is the reason I run Eldritch Evolution, because instead of needing 7 mana to get Zada/Mirrorwing and Silverfur out on the same turn, I only need 6 and a sacrifice. If I've built up 8 total mana to spend, I have room left to play Expedite, Might of the Masses or Rush of Adrenaline. This still requires that you to stay alive for 8 turns to get there.
I think, sadly, that this combo is stuck in casual games only. Spot removal is too reliable to attempt to curve out into the combo, because there is no reason your opponent should ever leave Silverfur on the field long enough to get out Zada/Mirrorwing. Especially if they have the bane of this combo, Reflector Mage. Seriously, that guy perfectly counters this entire thing without even triggering Silverfur's ability and of course he's like the most played creature in standard right now.
