Skin Invasion Flip as sudo-removal/free creature with a huge body, but does it fit in a werewolf deck? It's going in mine for game day, i just need to figure out how I'm gonna do it....maybe sideboard...
April 27, 2016 12:26 a.m.
It's either you use it on a weenie and block it with your big bodied wolves, or you could side a burn along with it...
April 27, 2016 12:29 a.m.
AndyReveler says... #6
The way i see it is exactly like you said at is best, they lose a creature and you gain a creature, and at its worst, you trade and you you both lose a creature BUT, in both cases your getting a 3/4! That's already bigger than most of the werewolves, it's toughness means it survives most burn spells, especially the ones that do damage too all creatures. The only things it doesn't synergize with are Neglected Heirloom, Moonlight Hunt, Howlpack Resurgence and Silverfur Partisan, which you should be fine without anyway.
Idk, I just feel it could (or rather i want it to) be something in a werewolf, or other red aggro deck
April 27, 2016 1:37 a.m.
Skin Invasion Flip is mained for red aggro decks, especially those packed with burns, but I don't know for wolves...
You're practically giving away slots for cards and if you don't get skin invasion on your first turn, it's useless as the game goes on...
April 27, 2016 1:44 a.m.
AndyReveler says... #8
Objection! There's plenty of times where its useful, main case being if the board is stalled, you can attach it to an opponents creature you want to, or are able to kill by forcing it to attack, blocking, and getting a free hard to deal with 3/4! It's sudo-removal with a creature treat. Worse case scenario you have no creatures and it is entirely useless, but so would Moonlight Hunt be in a creatureless scenario. Hell, even attaching it to a messenger or another werewolf and having it trade with something and getting something bigger for 1 mana is still pretty great.
April 27, 2016 4:40 a.m.
If you are playing pump, Titans strength, rush of adrenaline, unchanged fury then sticking skin invasion on a messenger has work well for me in the early turns. People are weary of blocking cause it will give you a 3/4 and then you drop all your pumps when they declare no blockers.
It's also useful later in the game where I've put it on an enemy and then moonlight hunted them at the start of their turn/end of mine.
I keep it in the sideboard and bring it in if I'm facing burn. At least then if they burn my dogs I'm getting fleas in return!
April 27, 2016 4:47 a.m.
Hi, Everyone!
I'm trying to finalize my sideboard for Game Day, and I have six undecided slots.
- Should I lean towards shoring up the deck's weaknesses, with cards like Display of Dominance, Evolutionary Leap, Radiant Flames, or others?
- Or should I play to the deck's Gruul-ish strengths, with cards like Burn from Within, Exquisite Firecraft, Moonlight Hunt, or others?
This article from over at StarCityGames suggests that with an Aggro deck, I'd be better off playing to the deck's strengths. But I'd really like to hear your thoughts!
Thanks in advance!

clayperce I'd be a big fan of display to be honest. A lot of Kalitas kicking about and it will stop all the black removal
April 27, 2016 6:20 a.m.
I read that card wrong....
Hmmm still strong to stop removal. Evolutionary leap will help get that creature draw though. How many creatures you running?
April 27, 2016 6:22 a.m.
I'd go with leap then. Worst case scenario you play it turn 2 amd get use of it later
April 27, 2016 9:25 a.m.
AndyReveler says... #15
Very interesting article clayperce, in that sense I'd go with evolutionary leap, maybe even main 1 like the g/w aggro deck
April 27, 2016 12:21 p.m.
I'm going to tweak my deck for Game Day. Zadafur is a steady combo, but I find that i don't have any other win-con apart from pulling off a huge combo. by then, they usually just remove Zada and I'm dead in the water.
This is how I go about the changes:Go full aggro with cheap cards- remove zada and silverfur- add in the two drops and three drops (breakneck rider and Geier reach)- remove buff spells. add removal spells
the way i see it- i remove 7 creature cards (3 zada and 4 silverfur)
- remove scourge wolf: 3 cards
total of 10 new creatures to add:
Planning to add: 4 beastcaller savant for that ramp
3 Breakneck rider
1 Geier Reach Bandit
1 Lambholt Pacifist
1 Hinterland Logger
14 slots for spells
add two howlpack resurgence
add radiant flames (anti token and weenie)
moonlight hunt
rabid bite
fiery temper
add one more arlinn kord
At this point, I cannot afford to purchase a set of CoCo and Atarka's Command....
April 28, 2016 1:05 a.m.
Also considering Chandra's Ignition for board wipe...
April 28, 2016 1:06 a.m.
My Game Day mainboard:
Creature (23)
4x Duskwatch Recruiter
4x Geier Reach Bandit
4x Hinterland Logger
3x Village Messenger
4x Lambholt Pacifist
4x Beastcaller Savant
Instant (12)
3x Chandra's Ignition
4x Moonlight Hunt
2x Radiant Flames
Enchantment (2)
3x Howlpack Resurgence
2x Arlinn Kord
Land (23)
9x Forest
4x Game Trail
Let me know your thoughts. I find that removal is often the key to surviving that transition from mid to late game...

Oh man Chandra's Ignition might be good in my deck with a powered werewolf equipped with an Ashmouth Blade
April 28, 2016 1:21 a.m.
I might take away 2 Howlpack for Neglected Heirloom... How'd you like my mainboard so far?
April 28, 2016 1:25 a.m.

maybe keep them in and sideboard the radiant flames instead
April 28, 2016 1:29 a.m.

I'll update mine when I get home but it went 4-0 at last FNM facing off against bantco in the last round.
The record so far for me is having a village messenger swing for 20 damage after they didn't bother blocking..... Always block a village messenger if I have untapped mana :D

Still thinking of the cards to put in the wolf deck I'm about to build here and I assure you won't be disappointed clayperce dude! It's surely going to have a couple of Huntmaster of the Fells Flip and Fervor. :D
Will post up the deck once it's done.

TheInsanelyMadWizard,
Looking forward to it ... though I'll be jealous that all you Modern players have access to cards like Huntmaster of the Fells
Flip! As others have mentioned: Maybe in EMN!
April 28, 2016 3:32 p.m.
Everyone else hoping for Huntmaster of the Fells Flip, Moonmist and at least 1 dual coloured werewolfe in EDM?
April 28, 2016 3:56 p.m.
Nykona we need good two drops. Check out my deck. In order for a good werewolf to replace any of my bad werewolves it needs to be a 2 drop. Anything else would ruin the mana curve.
April 28, 2016 4:02 p.m.
Everybody contact Wizards of the coast tell them you have a recommendation, give them a link to my deck and tell them that in order for a werewolf deck to be at least tier two they need to release 1 or 2 werewolves that can replace lambholt pacifist and/or kessig forgemaster.(preferably something that only helps werewolves so that in order to use it you need to be a full on Tribal. It allows them to fine tune the card.) They will actually take your feedback. Please! Trust me my deck looks to be most consistently good! :D let's all help the pack out!

It's in the development stage right now so I need thoughts and opinions, it's basically just supposed to be a faster version of my other deck.
April 28, 2016 4:27 p.m.
First off, I went 2-0 at the shop yesterday. All my creatures the second match had +338/+338. :D
Let's talk about Mirror Match hate and sideboarding additional cards, especially Zada since a 3/3 is going to be about where the "beefy" cards are going to be once pumped. Of course, Moonlight Hunt should be in your deck, but it will also be in their deck so adding in some additional control (ie, more than just Moonlight Hunt might not be an unwise idea.
Outnumber depends on you having creatures but might kill Zada at instant speed depending on. Lightning Axe depends on you having a card in hand but will murder Zada at instant speed. Draconic Roar at instant speed will kill Zada unless they pump him a little. Kozilek's Return is great at wiping the board for someone is running weaker weenies, especially if you have a Howlpack Resurgence on the field, but it won't kill Zada. Any thoughts on mirror matches?
April 29, 2016 9:16 a.m.
I've revised my deck (for the 8th time) and have also done some serious revamping to the sideboard. I think my sideboard is a good mix of answers to decks I'd face.
April 29, 2016 10:10 a.m.
Hey everyone. I'm wishing you all the best with Game Day tomorrow (ours is at 9:00AM). My wife and I will be playing two events. She'll be running an elf-deck and I'd appreciate it if you can take the time to help a brother out, see what's what with her current list.

. Collected Company is supposed to be there but decided against it because though we have legitimate 3 drops at 30+ creatures, it still won't help us transition us to late game. That's why I added in control cards like Duress...
To keep things relevant, my deck is as good to go. I playtested it with Bant Company and White Weenies for 6 games each.
Bant Company went 4-2 - I lost the two matches because Savant was not drawn out on my first hand. He basically was a dead card past turn 5... But every time the Savant was drawn, he accelerated my pace so I really cannot discredit him. He wasn't expecting a full-blown aggro wolf deck and he just couldn't compete even with Collected Company...
White Weenie was more of a close one than ever at 3-3. The last game would've gone to him had I not drawn Chandra's Ignition and targeted my biggest creatures... Village Messenger + Heirloom is a beast early game too...
Going to make my last minute preparations now before I head to bed, so Imma stay online to check out your feedback.
