So what do we think of Hermit and whats a better replacement for him if you dont like it?
May 2, 2016 9 p.m.
Hermit is good against players who like to play on your turn. If not going against that, Sin Prodder seems a good 3 drop replacement, gives card draw, damage and menace.
May 2, 2016 9:03 p.m.
Oh crud. I've been playing him wrong the entire time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Made another werewolfy deck but Investigate based. Wanted to play with Sage of Ancient Lore Flip and it ended up like this. Ehh its kinda fun to play but definately ain't competitive. Maybe in a turbo-fog style deck?

Super late update, but my deck went 1-1-2 for fnm and I didn't even bother with game day. I'm switching to Jund till the next set because, even though I love werewolves, I'm pretty tired of this trend.
One thing I will say is I seriously underestimated Neglected Heirloom Flip with Lambholt Pacifist Flip. I was uncomfortable with 3/3 that couldn't attack, but with heirloom everything was great. The only other thing I can think of that could make my deck better (with my style of playing) was maybe add Westvale Abbey Flip as a back up plan and/or Burn from Within.
My only other thoughts on werewolf decks is that there's something there with Silverfur Partisan, tokens, Cryptolith Rite and Burn from Within and/or Westvale Abbey Flip, if you can't overwhelm with numbers, those are great back up plans. It's not my style tho, so I (probably) won't be trying it out.
I'll continue to be a ghost until the next set, good luck for those I've helped and those who have helped me.

White mana gives us access to removals like Declaration in Stone and protectors like Eerie Interlude and Always Watching plus Howlpack Resurgence, as well as Dromoka's Command. Throw in Nissa, Vastwood Seer Flip and Arlinn Kord Flip and you can actually establish some board dominance.
Now I'm so eager to work on this color combination...

Kizmetto It's a fairly expensive set-up as it may be headed towards GW Tokens hahaha. But we might go about with something budget yet potent here.

This is how I'd imagine my creature and spell line-up to be.
The entire deck or set-up would cost around $102.50 for the deck plus sideboard. I'm kinda excited to build it.
Thoughts?
May 3, 2016 8:09 a.m.
Wow, I think I found my new home for a while. To start, I opened Silverfur as one of the cards on prerelease and went 4-0 for my 1st pre release win since starting magic in m15 block set. So I immediately fell in love with aggro again!
I decided to build a deck around zada, silverfur, and a bunch of small bump spells and have been playing around with it up until game day... I had to work (boo) but my buddy piloted it without knowing it at all and went 3-1 with his only loss being to spirits (and himself due to mana screw) but we found out the deck was a weakness to removal based decks.
That being said, someone said something about evolutionary leap and I was wandering.g what everyone thought of my deal idea aNd where leap could go?
werewolves just broke my deck!

Hey there!
You can maximize Zada and Silverfur by adding more wolves to the deck. I suggest going with Lambholt Pacifist Flip, Duskwatch Recruiter Flip, and Geier Reach Bandit Flip as your staples. Village Messenger Flip is good early game and should be fodder for Evolutionary Leap during mid to late game when he's no longer useful.
Other than that, why not fight removal with removal? Moonlight Hunt is the best green removal spell and Clip Wings is best for Archangel Avacyn Flip and Ormendahl, Profane Prince Flip...
May 3, 2016 10 p.m.
Hahaha. Yes! I love it. Before my sideboard was geared for a different deck but I like the thought of cheap kill spells to go with this as well :)

I feel like I wrote a mini Essay on my page werewolf deck page today.
May 3, 2016 11:43 p.m.
Moonlight Hunt really is a better Doom Blade for werewolf decks. With a few Neck Breaker's attacking, I used it to deal 38 damage to a blocker... if only it could go to face.
May 4, 2016 4:19 a.m.
I opened a booster pack today and I got myself a 2nd copy of Arlinn Kord Flip...
Just sharing.

Also, has anyone mained Nissa, Voice of Zendikar in their wolf decks? How's her synergy with Arlinn Kord Flip and the other creatures?
May 4, 2016 5:26 a.m.
okay since my cryptolith combo deck is good and tested im gonna try my coco wolves again! fnm tommorow night :) what 3 drops are good value...and evolitionary leap..you have all convinced me its good so i would like to run some...in the xoco deck... but xoco decks needs mostly creatures so what do we suggest?

Hello!
I have been skulking around this thread for a long while now, and it is pretty interesting. I went to SOI prerelease, and played R/G Werewolves. I got Geier Reach Bandit Flip as my promo, how could I not? I ended up going 2-2, but I absolutely loved playing werewolves. I always thought about building a deck with werewolves, and now is my chance.
I know this thread is about standard, but I basically only play EDH these days. I was wondering what everyone's input on a werewolf EDH deck? I have seen some neat ones with Ruric Thar, the Unbowed and non-creature pumps, like Bloodrush and Reinforce. I have also seen some straight aggro decks with Xenagos, God of Revels. What do you think would be a good commander? Should I wait for Eldritch moon if (when) they make a legendary werewolf?
Or is it better to attempt to get into the modern/standard scene? I hear Zadafur is pretty powerful...
May 4, 2016 9:39 p.m.
AndyReveler says... #32
modern werewolves is not fun at all with all the stupid powerful things out there, also the only werewolf cards ever played in modern are Huntmaster of the Fells Flip and Hanweir Watchkeep Flip, both in non-werewolf decks

May 5, 2016 4:49 a.m.
Crayfish,
I love Commander too, and was thinking about that just the other day.
Standard's really fun, and I'm sure I'll play some extremely casual Werewolf Modern after SOI and EMN rotate out (Fall 2017). But I'm definitely going to start brewing a Werewolf deck soon. I'm leaning towards Surrak Dragonclaw, but also looking at Mina and Denn, Wildborn, Gahiji, Honored One, and maybe Dragonlord Atarka (because: Elder Dragon).
Everyone,
I went ahead and started a thread over in the Commander forums: Werewolf EDH.
Please check it out!

So was thinking and my brewer heart again trying to think out of the box for werewolves , but a midrange build? What do we think would fit into it?
May 5, 2016 7:06 a.m.
I have been thinking of the same thing and tried to build a zadafur deck around it.
werewolves just broke my deck!
Its really bursty and fast passed to be early aggro, but its also a midrange combo deck.
But to.go true midrange wolves, it needs Arlinn Kord Flip and a couple more werewolves... and removal... and yea, you where I am going with this. Lol

- The article about CoCo from Post #106: "I'd want 22 hittable creatures at the very least before putting Collected Company in my main deck. This gives a 5% chance of missing completely, a 21% probability of hitting one creature, and a 74% probability of hitting two creatures." Thanks, DaftVader!

I wanted to make sure y'all saw: I started a thread on Epic budget deck stories!

May 5, 2016 6:54 p.m. Edited.
Followed an invitation here. I've built my wolf deck Wave of Wolves to get into standard for the first time. Essentially blue has several cards that work well with wolves.
Essence Flux works great with Pack Guardian because it's a spirit and because of the ETB trigger. It also works great with Silverfur Partisan because it's a one mana protection spell that targets.
Have fun building Temur Wolves and may you draw well.
Altered Ego can copy a transformed wolf and lock him on the transformed side while adding some +1/+1 counters. Its also great to flicker it with Essence Flux
Fevered Visions at last might let you abuse Sage of Ancient Lore and works great in combination with Hermit of the Natterknolls Flip.
Compelling Deterrence can be helpful when wolves are confronted with bombs, especially indestructible ones and it saves creatures from sweepers as well as walkers. With Howlpack Resurgence the damage even goes through.
