Best way to say "LOL, NO" (Counterburn help)
Standard Deck Help forum

I'm going to start attending FNM regularly with my UR Counterburn list and have a few decisions to make, so I'm turning to the community! These points are based on the one FNM I attended this past Friday.
- Should I run fetches? They would replace Evolving Wilds, and help fuel delve on the four Digs and single Cruise I run. Is the life loss negligible with the set of Radiant Fountains and Swiftwater Cliffs? I already own the sets of Deltas and Strands, so obtaining them isn't an issue.
- My meta is red/black creature heavy. Does this warrant mainboarding Nullify over Dissolve? I found myself siding in Nullifys and a Negate or two nearly every game.
- How can I deal with Thunderbreak Regent? I can counter him, but have no way of removing him once he hits. I've been thinking about AEtherspouts, but is this a good decision?
Any thoughts are welcome and appreciated!
For number 3, For any big creature plays like regent or atarka, there is always Polymorphist's Jest + Circle of Flame. Very fun to sideboard into vs creature heavy strategies and one half even works well vs red aggro.

@ brokendwarf - Thanks for the help!
- Not really. It will help a lot if I make the change in counter magic, since they all cost 2 rather than 3. I was also considering running both a set of blue fetches and the Wilds.
- Should I remove the Dissolves for them? Or something else?
- I may move Anger of the Gods to the side. It rarely helped, since most of the problems I encountered were Regents.
Thanks as well, Boza! I've already been thinking about Circle of Flame in the side to combat RDW, so I could try Polymorphist's Jest as well. Unless it's a RDW deck, the pieces aren't overly useful on their own though.

The issue with the Polymorphist's Jest and Circle of Flame combo is that you have to devote at least 5 sideboard slots to the two cards to even think about consistently getting them together. That's a full third of your sideboard.

Try them in place of the Dissolves, Dissipate can still exile things.
You could run just the Polymorphist's Jest and still Magma Jet the problem creatures.

Agreed, GoldGhost012. I've already been contemplating running Circle of Flame to combat RDW though, but I don't like needing both cards for either to work well in any other matchup.

That's still having to use 2 cards to take out 1 creature.

At least that's all the creatures, and they get exiled. : Exile all creatures you don't control. Still not that great, considering it's sorcery speed. May splash black for that new board wipe but eh, I don't like that much.

The card you are looking for to handle midrange creatures in a UR deck is Perilous Vault.

I'd Just side 2-3 anger, period.
For Thunderbreak, try Stoke the Flames

ducttapedeckbox I would main deck 3, it's a card you are going to want to see most games.

Would you mind taking a look at the list and suggesting something to remove?

I'm not one to play at FNM, or any regular tournament for that matter, but I'll see if I can help a bit.
