B/G Tap Clue-Mill Emerge Deck Help!

Standard Deck Help forum

As you might gather from the title I have no idea what I want to go with in my current deck. I went to Day 1 of Game Day with a deck built around Niblis of Frost hoping to tap my opponents out each turn and attack for free which works out even better when my creatures all have flying. I supplemented this strategy with Chilling Grasp and Grip of the Roil along with a lot of instants and sorceries allowing card draw such as Contingency Plan. Sadly this didn't work out as my Niblis kept getting hit with Languish, Murder, and Ultimate Price. I had only 1 copy of Convolute and a couple Turn Aside. My secondary win condition was milling which I tried using a combo of Fleeting Memories, Trail of Evidence, and Tamiyo's Journal. This won a game for me but takes forever to set up. Lastly I knew I'd need some bigger threats so right before the start of play I added Elder Deep-Fiend, Kiora, Master of the Depths, Sphinx of the Final Word, and Wretched Gryff. Even as a one of and without use of Tamiyo's Journal I was able to top deck Elder Deep-Fiend enough to win a couple games but didn't win any matches. Please help me fix this, because I'm all over the place.

Basically do you want clues, spirits or emerge?

Looks like you are trying to do too many things all at once in your deck. I would suggest choose one of the things you mentioned and just make a deck around that.

You could do a red/blue deck with cards like Niblis of Frost, Thermo-Alchemist, Curious Homunculus  Flip, Stormchaser Mage, Thing in the Ice  Flip, Fevered Visions, Incendiary Flow, Galvanic Bombardment, and Take Inventory maybe.

Or you could do a deck just around milling. You could even keep emerge cards like Elder Deep-Fiend, and Wretched Gryff if you want in it.

I will make up a idea for a deck for you if I can.

Delta-117 I like this list as B/R was a color combo I felt would be a lot more competitive. I was actually beaten by a Fevered Visions deck and my opponent only ever played a creature once in two games. Curious Homunculus  Flip and Thing in the Ice  Flip were in my deck but I likely didn't have enough copies.

LeaPlath given the investment I made to set up Milling, I think I'd like to stick with that, but I'd need to figure out how to avoid dying to hordes of creatures and tokens while waiting to accumulate 6 or more clues. The combo of Confirm Suspicions and Fleeting Memories helped me a lot.

KingEnma,
If you want to stick with Mill, I recommend you check out Competitive Eldritch Moon Mill (STANDARD), by Blotterhead

KingEnma here's an example of an investigate mill deck.

U/G Investigate

Now I never built a investigate deck before and so that's why it's still 68 cards, but this will give you an idea of what to build yours like.

I have to say though milling with Sphinx's Tutelage does work much better but I would say for you it is not worth building since Sphinx's Tutelage is not in standard for much longer.

I happen to have a mill deck like the one clayperce shared too actually, and what I do plan on doing for it once standard rotates is to make it a burn deck with Thermo-Alchemist and Fevered Visions. You could give something like this a try always too.

Delta-117 that list is awesome. I know what edits to make to get it under 68 and I think thats a good place to start.
