Can we break Harvest Season in Standard?
Standard Deck Help forum

As a ramp player when I saw we were getting more opportunities in Standard to ramp since Explosive Vegetation rotated I was extremely thrilled, and I see Harvest Season as more of a competitive than casual card that needs to be broken. I'm sure many of us have tried to think of things, but as a collective I truly we believe we could find a deck it slots into or an entire archetype around it. Please TappedOut community help me break this card.

The new card that makes your opponent loose a life for each tapped creature you control. Cryptolith rites green blue with the new Nissa.

This is all good, but we need a good way to tap our creatures and a good way to make a lot of creatures.

Bant Season Ramp This is what I have so far but I feel it could be a lot better.

How does this work with Paradox Engine?
Would you base X off of how many tapped creatures you had when you cast it, before the Engine untapped them all?
Or would you need a way to tap everything again after the Engine resolves but before Harvest Season does?

to expand on that, you would probably have to go G/B/W, Servo Exhibition, fabricate creatures, Anointed Procession, Inspiring Statuary, black removals, white exiles, green big stuff to use all those lands for. Walking Ballista maybe with all that mana available? And like others mentioned, Throne of the God-Pharaoh. You could generate some decent damage with throne and some X cost opponent damaging spell. Doesn't black have one?

Other mana sinks for when you have the right things in play to take advantage: Battle at the Bridge, Dark Salvation, Liliana's Indignation, Wildest Dreams.
tap out your servos to fuel x cost spells, profit, throne tacks on extra damage at end of turn.
Don't see it breaking the format, but it could be playable

So what does that deck look like on paper and how is it supposed to do well against the current metagame of mardu?

It would be a gimmicky combo deck where you usually don't have all the pieces you need in play before you get over run, but 1 time out of 20, you're unstoppable. Including Nissa, Voice of Zendikar and Rishkar, Peema Renegade gives an alternative sort of overlapping combo and would make it a little more consistent and provide a way to beef up you're token creatures. But this deck is going to get picked apart by selective removal. Rishkar will go down quick, ballist will get pushed or Unlicensed Disintegrationed before you have a chance to cast Lifecraft Awakening. And Heart of Kiran or Aethersphere Harvester will keep punching you in the nose until you die.

I was thinking about maybe a semi-consistent combo deck that tries to go off at least twice before losing.

- Turn 1 Forest : Loam Dryad
- Turn 2 Forest : Ornithopter, tap Ornithopter with Loam Dryad, play Harvest Season, get 2 lands.
- Turn 3 Forest : If creatures survived, 6 mana. Play Scaled Behemoth.

I'm liking the look of this, my thoughts are to use exert creatures and, as previously stated, improvise spells and creatures that naturally tap for abilities. I'm not a big standard player, but exert seems to be the best way to do this.
