Standard Deck Help forum

Well, thank you all for the help with my FNM/Gameday deck. I am going to go with B/W Death and Taxes in Standard. My one last dilemma is where to put some cards (mainboard versus sideboard) and whether I should run 24 lands or 25. Anyone who can give some feedback would have my gratitude. Thanks for any assistance anyone may provide!

24 lands is plenty. I only go up to 25 once I hit 4 spells of 5 CMC or higher.
You need more removal mainboard. As mentioned above I don't think Starfield of Nyx is great here. It's a win condition but it requires other cards to do anything. I would cut Starfield of Nyx along with Aegis of the Gods and add 4 removal spells (Ultimate Price, Hero's Downfall, Celestial Flare, or even Banishing Light). You need at least 6 removal spells.

Im actually very curious about this too... I've never been to a Game Day before (just started playing about 5 months or so).... and I will also be playing a taxes deck. Taxes, just because

Interesting thing about your deck, Khaos- your taxes has a pretty similar CMC curve to go along with mine, but you seem to skew a bigger split with 1 and 2 cost stuff and 4 and 5 cost stuff, while mine hits about 2 and 3 cost stuff. Do you have any idea what you'll do about Stormbreath? It's a big enough problem that I'm tempted to run Master of the Feast instead of Blood-Cursed Knight. Also, why 4 Aegis? I consider that a 2 or 3 of, at most.

khaos2639: Your deck should have 24 land as you have 3 spells of CMC5. 4 Aegis of the Gods is too many, I'd recommend just keeping 2 in the sideboard. You need some main deck removal besides Oppressive Rays - Valorous Stance is really good. Pacifism could find a home there too.
Celestial Flare and End Hostilities are the best answers to Stormbreath Dragon in white.

Celestial Flare is indeed in the sideboard for no other reason than for Stormbreath.... which came in handy because I saw him several times.
Aegis of the Gods needs to be there... if I could legally run more than 4 I would. My local meta is very heavy in player destruction. Sacrifice a creature... target player does this... target player does that... my local meta loves them and it keeps me alive through a lot of stuff.
I tinkered with the land slightly... I don't really have much of a problem with mana as you'd think. Due to my very high devotion to white, Nykthos can usually get me 6-8 mana using only 2 other lands.
I changed the deck slightly to mirror the last minute changes, and I'd say it went well...

I believe 24 lands its ok for your deck since you dont play lost of cards with high CMC. I dont think that Starfield of Nyx has a place in your deck. Its too slow for the aggro match-ups. Consider adding some removal main and sideboard such as Ultimate Price,Hero's Downfall and Murderous Cut.
