im relatively new the current standard, and usually stick with modern or casual. however i wanted to look into the possibility of grixis control with the god pharaoh and some of his bug gods and such, looking for input on whether or not its a playable deck, and if so, what are some cards to use in it

If you wanted to, you could. I don't exactly know what cards to put in, and I don't know how good it would be.

Hope this helps!

My first "successful" brew in amonkhet standard was a grixis control type build.

I say go for it! As long as there's a good amount of inexpensive removal, card draw, and counterspell you should be good to go.

I'd make use of treasure map to make sure the good pharaoh can get on line. Other than that, get a good curve and have fun.
