Help me choose a Standard deck
Standard Deck Help forum

Like the title says, I'd like to make a Standard legal deck (one that is as much rotationproof when Amonkhet hits).
I've seen several decks that look strong, but can't decide what deck to choose, so I'd like the people here to sell what they think is the best deck (and why).
I've seen the Electrostatic Pummeler deck, it's very consistent, but can get countered pretty hard by either countermagic or something that prevents combat damage.
Another deck I've noticed is the Rakdos Madness deck, which also is an aggressive deck, however I'm fairly certain it loses to the deck mentionned above and that deck will see major play (especially since it's budget).
On me: I'm mostly an EDH and draft player, looking to enter Standard. While I love playing red and prefer having it in any deck I play, I'm looking for a more mid-range deck that can take out these fasts decks, while also being able to deal with control (I'm not so much of a control player as it requires too much patience).
I don't have a budget in mind at the moment, I prefer to look at the different strategies in Standard that I can find so that I can choose something that suits my playstyle.
I knew about the mtggoldfish, didn't know they had such a page... Thanks for the info, much appreciated!

This deck is pretty midrange, extremely relient and can go up against aggro and control fairly well.

Its a real pain in the butt to play against and it can dominate pretty much everything but the most hyperagressive strategies.

Deolater MAgic on YouTube. He has a deck called Elzombie and that could suit your needs.

There a a lot of good control cards in standard. My advice for you is to make a midrange deck so you can have the best of both worlds. Im a control player, i have tried to play ago before and i end up playing it like a control deck, which isn't good haha

Coming from a semi-budget standard player, you should look into selesnya humans, they are really good and quite competitive, and depending on whether you want some really expensive creatures or not, can be really cheap. I dont like to spend a lot of money on magic however i would spend a good amount on a selesnya humans deck mainly because they are really fun.

_FxZIONZ_ has it nailed. I started Standard on a selesnya humans deck and it did well for me. It turned into a naya deck though with upgrades and still remains just under $100 total. Heck I used a few cards from the Nissa planeswalker deck to fill it out and it has served me well against most standard decks you see at FNM.
You can look at mine for reference to see if its something you like.

Thanks for the input, I'll definitely look into it all (I might go for the Selesnya humans deck, I got quite a bunch of goodies for that from the only box I ever bought (SOI booster box))

Look at some of DesolatorMagic, MTGGoldfish, and StrictlyBetterMTG's decks. They're normally budget and highly competitive.

hey guys and girls. Quick question is an artefact a colourless spell?
November 9, 2016 7:52 a.m.
As a general rule brankb artifacts are colorless spells as Delta-117 says. However there are a few exceptions, such as the gearhulk cycle in standard (Torrential Gearhulk, Combustible Gearhulk, Noxious Gearhulk, Cataclysmic Gearhulk, and Verdurous Gearhulk) that are color-aligned.
