Help w/ R/B Fast Stuff. Returning to STD
Standard Deck Help forum

Hiya folks, as the titles says; Looking for help, / fast stuff. I am attempting to return to the standard scene, and as I have not been following the spoilers like a proper devoted player as of late I am a bit behind on what the meta is and blah blah blah... I borrowed a R/B deck for the standard showdown and loved how it played, so now I am trying to make it my own. I have created a build nearly identical to that I played, and am looking for help making some choices on cards. I have a brief write up in the description but I will try to add more here.
Pia Nalaar is questionable to me in this build, now someone suggested Kari Zhev, Skyship Raider, however I have yet to test this and would like further opinions.
Debating an Energy Subtheme using Lathnu Hellion, Glint-Sleeve Siphoner, and Harnessed Lightning. My concern with this is it makes it more of a combo deck and susceptible to interruption.
Bloodrage Brawler is another iffy choice... 4/2 for 2cmc is nothing to shake a stick at, but with only 4 madness cards, is it worth it?
Don't even get me started on the sideboard, I just kinda made a mashup from different examples of r/b decks.
Sorry for the novel, for those that made it thanks for taking the time to read. On a final note, for anyone experienced with code... maybe they can tell me what I did wrong, it seems a bit wonky.

How does it not return them? What I am thinking is a)blow up courier discarding your hand that has temper(s) in it, b) madness, c) return all cards discarded this turn (including the tempers).
Does the changing of zones stop this or something? Way I see it is they were discarded from your hand on that turn... So should be returned with SotG.

"If you discard a card with madness but dont cast it, Shadow of the Grave can find it in your graveyard. If you do cast that card, Shadow of the Grave cant find it in your graveyard." - Gatherer text
I think its because the madness effect makes it leave the graveyard and reenter from the stack. Meaning its a new card similar to blinking a permanent in response to removal.

Per the set release notes; "If you discard a card with madness but don't cast it, Shadow of the Grave can find it in your graveyard. If you do cast that card, Shadow of the Grave can't find it in your graveyard"
When you discard a card with madness it actually goes to exile first. You cast it from exile so it doesn't go hand to graveyard. If you don't cast it, it does pass into the graveyard.

Thanks for clearing that up. I guess I can remove it as an option.

Shadow of the Grave does NOT fetch back cards you've casted with madness, so I would definitely not include that one. The Energy plan is cute, but R/B doesn't have the legs to stand on it. The best R/B decks I've seen run on artifact madness enablers. So 4 Key to the City, 4 Bomat Courier, 4 Scrapheap Scrounger all 8 of the 3 damage 1 mana madness spells and fill in the rest with creatures. If you cam afford it, try to get 3 Glorybringers too
