Using an energy based deck with cards like Consulate Surveillance. What do you think?
I'm not sure, though probably the deck would have an energy subtheme.

Consulate Surveillance requires per source you want to prevent damage from. So the 4 energy you get from it would be blown after using it to stop the damage from 2 creatures attacking you. You might find it difficult to be able to keep energy around, and building a deck solely to have enough energy to pull that off could be too weak to creature based decks. The early results of Kaladesh Standard show a heavy favorite in creature based aggro, so initially you would be facing an uphill battle. Perhaps the Pro Tour will reveal the meta to be slower and less creature intense, in which case a fog deck would be a more viable archetype.

Abzan turbo fog or Sultai turbo fog. They could be a thing. The stated card in the title is garbage.
I personally think Abzan Control Fog could be your thing. Your win conditions: Liliana, the Last Hope/Triskaidekaphobia/Aetherflux Reservoir. Gain and drain and protect Lili. There would be 8 cards you can use to fog, the new one from Kala Kaladesh and the one with awaken. You would use board wipes. And Black for card draw.
Sultai, you would use Lili for your win con and/or Crush of Tentacles and/or Jace/Ob Nixilis.
These decks may not be tier 1, but they'll be fun for FNM.

I mean if you have enough other fog elements to work with, you're probably ok. What would the finisher be though? Cataclysmic Gearhulk/Verdurous Gearhulk?
