Last Chance to Solve Zada/Mirrorwing
Standard Deck Help forum

I've been trying to break Zada, Hedron Grinder since she was first spoiled. Same with Mirrorwing Dragon. And though I've seen and played a bunch of REALLY fun brews, I've yet to see one that's competitive.
That's where I'm hoping y'all can help: Please share your ideas and brews!
To get us started ...
Here's a list of all the ...
Cards that play nicely with Zada and Mirrorwing
Standard*
SCORE: 1 | 544 VIEWS | IN 4 FOLDERS
Here are the known playable archetypes:
- Blink: Abuse Blink effects (Essence Flux, especially) and ETB Creatures
- Clues/Artifacts: Investigate effects (Confront the Unknown, especially) and Artifacts-matter cards
- Counters: +1/+1 Counter effects and Counters-matter cards (multiple cards ... IMO this is the strongest archetype so far)
- Energy: Energy counters and Energy-matters cards
- Prowess: Prowess made better with Zada/Mirrorwing
- Tokens: Token-maker effects ( Silverfur Partisan , especially ... though Strength of Arms may actually be better)
- Something else entirely?
And here are some earlier threads: Solving Mirrorwing and Solving Mirrorwing: The Sequel.
With both Zada and Mirrorwing rotating out of Standard in September, we don't have much time. Thanks in advance for your help!

I'm thinking Naya zoo/stompy has the best chances here, where Zada and Mirrorwing are value engines at the top end of the curve.
Sylvan Advocate is still legal, along with Thalia, Heretic Cathar, Bloodrage Brawler, Narnam Renegade, Beastcaller Savant, Glory-Bound Initiate, Greenwheel Liberator, Hanweir Militia Captain Flip, Hidden Herbalists, Prowling Serpopard, Kari Zev, Skyship Raider, Honored Crop-Captain, and Samut, Voice of Dissent as a Zada enabler...you get the grind against control by Expedite-ing or Fling-ing your board in response to shenanigans, and the combat tricks ensure you have the upper hand in any combat with midrange or aggro.
Essentially, I suggest Naya because it's able to drop a meaningful creature every turn before Zada/Mirrorwing, which is what the deck needs in order to win on T5-7. It's also got a robust enough suite of instants that you can cast responsively, such as Blossoming Defense or Tandem Tactics, to be versatile against anything the opponent does to interfere. Lastly, the zoo foundations of that deck are strong enough to be a decent matchup even if the opponent manages to neuter your two build-around cards.
I wish I had a brew for you, but I literally just came up with that. I have a deck @ One-Punch Woman (Primer) that's essentially a zoo deck with Zada as one win-con, so I have some experience with her potency. I'd be happy, however, to provide feedback on any list you brew up.

ZadaWing doesn't interact with Prowess, the copies aren't cast, so Prowess doesn't trigger.
Would a Jund energy deck featuring Harnessed Lightning/Die Young/Highspire Infusion, Electrostatic Pummeler, and Bristling Hydra work? With the Harnessed Lightning and Die Young, you target either Zada, Hedron Grinder, or Mirrorwing Dragon, gain the , but don't do any damage or give any -1/-1s (with Highspire Infusion, you still target them, but there's no option to spend ), so you stockpile a lot of , then use the to pump either Electrostatic Pummeler or to boost and protect Bristling Hydra. Maybe add in Fling, because that gives you another route to victory.

Ryjo,
I know. Trust me, I know how these cards work.
Prowess is a playable archetype though (not saying it's competitive, of course), even with only one Prowess trigger per cast.

Thinking about possibly a clue deck with Indomitable Creativity to draw out Zada or Mirrorwing (if it hasn't been played already) with token generating spells but I don't think it would be that efficient.
