Mono Black Aggro in Standard Post Origins?

Standard Deck Help forum

Just wondering what everyone's thoughts are on mono black aggro being viable post Origins.

I stopped playing toward the end of Theros and have no clue what the current standard metagame landscape looks like, but these are some cards I'm pretty stoked on: Graveblade Marauder, Despoiler of Souls, Priest of the Blood Rite, and Languish (duh!)

I was thinking of throwing in some Bloodsoaked Champions and maybe some Master of the Feast if it's still standard legal? I basically want strong lil' low-cost dudes to bash faces, graveyard recursion, hand disruption, Read the Bones. and cards that kill things.

Probably not the most cohesive direction for a deck, but it sounds fun and if I can win a few FNMs, even better!

Well it seems like you have a few conflicting ideas....for example Languish does not go in a deck with any of those cards because itll kill them its an aggro deck afterall. The other thing is just more of an efficiency thing Sign in Blood is better than Read the Bones in a more aggressive aggro deck. Other than that you have a solid base idea idk all the cards that would go great in it I just wanted to point those things out

If you want to be aggro in black this is a good place to start;

4x Bloodsoaked Champion

4x Mogis's Marauder

4x Gnarled Scarhide

4x Tormented Hero

4x Pain Seer

4x Master of the Feast

4x Herald of Torment

4x Foul-Tongue Shriek

and throw in whatever else you like from Origins to bolster it further.

You can also consider topping your curve with the new Erebos's Titan for devotion along side Gray Merchant of Asphodel

I definitely like the idea of Languishing the board leaving just my Erebos's Titan, but I guess that kinda' takes away from the aggro-ness.

What would be a good way to remove creature cards from an opponent's graveyard to get the Titan back into your hand?

Off the top of my head all I can think of is Tormod's Crypt - not much in standard to do that with, plenty in Modern however...

If you wanna add white, you can play Mardu Woe-Reaper. I've thought about adding the Titan to my BW Warriors deck for that interaction.

Instead of aggro i say your better off with black devotion with the new cards that we got you can make a strong deck. Like nnolin said you can run Gray Merchant of Asphodel and Erebos's Titan for some great devotion drain. Mix that in with Liliana, Heretical Healer  Flip, Master of the Feast, and Whip of Erebos you have a lot of draining power. You can also run cards like Thoughtseize and Hero's Downfall for some control.

Chaos111545 Yeah that's kind of what I'm thinking of going with at this point. I want to put together something for Game Day. Might splash blue for additional removal & card draw and Disciple of the Ring. Card is so versatile against all sorts of threats and can turn into a finisher if you have enough stuff to exile.

Hello All,

I have been playing with a mono black aggro based on Tomoharu Saito's deck (http://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/daily-deck/mono-black-aggro-gp-miami-2015-03-19) and have been exactly working on upgrades with Origins. It is mainly a fast, low cost creatures and removal deck.

My top picks at the moment are:

Tainted Remedy against Siege Rhino and Whip strategies;

Liliana, Heretical Healer  Flip against everything...

It is looking good!

Any other low cc cost suggestions from ORI (or other)?

Cheers,

dg
