Nissa Sage Animist

Standard Deck Help forum

What Luck! My friend gets a Nissa, Sage Animist  Flip but he does not play green so he passes it on to me. I play a lot of Temur.

But Nissa is tricky....

Why is she the most expensive origins planeswalker. Why so much love?

How can I flip her before turn 7? Animist's Awakening? Explosive Vegetation?

Is one planeswalker enough reason to tailor an entire deck around her theme or would it be better to just put her in a deck and sometimes it will work out great and sometimes not.

Is there some obvious combo or trick I am missing?

So, if you want to tailor a deck around her, you want to play more than 1 since 1:60 cards is not good odds. That being said, a deck that works in her favor would likely be mono green and want to play big things along side her. Animist's Awakening, Sword of the Animist, Nissa's Pilgrimage, and Courser of Kruphix get you lands at a moderately high pace. You could also try red splash for Atarka's Command to put them of the field faster

As a one of she could be fun as she ramps early game and gets you some more advantage with her +1 late game. Unless you are willing to cash in on more of her, you probably want to stick with the fun if she land, but doesn't hurt you if you don't see her strategy.

I'm actually working on a bant deck with the new Nissa currently. It's by no means great, but it works and I like it

She's actually the second-most expensive Planeswalker from Origins. Jace has spiked up to 33 lately. She's expensive, however, because green has an easy tine flipping her with various ramp sources, and because her +1 is card draw but better, and because her creature side is a mana-dork that's still a good late-game draw.

It's called abzan control. Look it up, and build it.
