Rally 2: Rally Harder! (Abzan allies idea)
Standard Deck Help forum

I was going to get out of Standard before it ate up more of my money. I made the mistake of telling this to a WotC employee at prerelease (yay living in the Seattle area!), who quickly figured out my playstyle after listening to me whine about BFZ and came up with a deck idea that made me rethink this plan.
I like combos, I said. I like having lots of little creatures and turning them into threats. I like tempo decks. Allies look interesting. I mentioned which commanders I played in EDH. He goes "what about an allies deck built around Rally the Ancestors?"
Damn it. I love this idea.
I am thinking some kind of Abzan allies deck that mills itself with stuff like Gather the Pack and Scout the Borders, gets some dudes on the board, and then fires off Rally the Ancestors or March from the Tomb for the win. This sounds really, really cool to me.
I like the allies in these color, and because the Rally mechanic hits all creatures I'm not even limited to allies. Great sideboard stuff, too. And a little bird told me that graveyard hate is probably going to be scarce while all this "exile zone matters" stuff is in Standard, so the time is right!
What do you fine folks think? Should I go for it? How should I build it?
March from the Tomb + 4 Kalastria Healer = 16 points of life swing.
4 march, 3 Evolutionary Leap and 4 Gather the Pack, 4 Rally is your non-creature package. 22 lands is plenty, so you have 23 creature spots left.
From the creatures, 4 healer and 4 cutthroat are obligatory. We will need 2 Liliana, Heretical Healer Flip, 2 Grim Haruspex and 11 more allies.

Yeah, sounds good! These are a lot of the same conclusions I came to. I am still thinking Abzan for this; white is needed for the spells and black for the creatures. Green allows access to some solid draw options and also Veteran Warleader, who can become pretty damn terrifying once a graveyard's worth of allies is crapped out onto the field.
Blue is also an option so I can mill myself and have some counterspells, but I do not feel it's as strong.

I've started with Double Rally. Mostly went with Boza's idea because I think it's pretty much right on track.

@shepherdofire: Yeah, looks more like aggro/midrange than combo. But allies could be fun for sure.

It's meant to be a quick death or a hard late game to keep up with. It's in testing so when I know more about it I'll let you know how it fairs. Btw adding Rally the Ancestors to my side board in place of Rending Volley. And you have to remember that March from the Tomb only brings out 8 cmc.

8 CMC can be huge if it results in a big lifeswing or pumps my dudes on board for a haymaker. I think you might be better with March than Rally though, since Rally needs to be built around.

Ok, so I've "finished" the list but I don't consider it functional. It's far too slow and mana-fixing is a huge problem. I don't see this thing winning any games until that problem is solved.

I think you should. Its very well possible to make an Ally Reanimator Deck. I was thinking of using WB allies. And it does something similar. Using March from the Tomb to play 4 Kalastria Healer at the same time to land some massive health drain.
Some cards to look into.
Lantern Scout Getting lifelink and using allies to essentially work as combat prep spells.
Drana's Emissary Pings your opponents for 1 each upkeep and gives you some life as well.
Zulaport Cutthroat This guy works stupidly with the whole reanimator package. Being a psuedo Blood Artist.
Drana, Liberator of Malakir Definately a powerhouse in terms of allies building up your attack force.
Some of these i hope help i would like to see this deck list when your done!
