Should this be too hard to pull it up now in standard?

Standard Deck Help forum

So OGW gave us Deceiver of Form which seems pretty insane ability to me, since it can trigger Sanctum of Ugin when you cast him, then you can fetch Conduit of Ruin for next turn, and cast Conduit at your next main step, before attacking, to put Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger on top of your deck and mill your opponent before his turn comes back. Is it too unlikely? I was thinking that maybe some mana dorks on early game like Rattleclaw Mystic and Shaman of Forgotten Ways for a quick ramp, maybe another creature and all of them can potentially become Ulamog to end the game... with 2-3 attackers you should be able to mill your opponent, if not kill him with a bunch of 10/10. Crazy!

That's actually a really smooth strategy. Not too heavy on mana cost either.

You evil mastermind. Naya/Gruul ramp could pull that off easily.

Grrvvpp23 It sounds really interesting. Could you make a rough draft?

That doesn't work as Ulamog is Legendary and thus you can only have one copy of him on the board, even if it is a clone. So say you have 4 manadorks and a Deciever, revealing an Ulamog. You have to sacrifice 3 of those dorks by the legendary rule

Yeah, the legendary rule stops that from happening, unfortunately.

That doesn't mean this doesn't work though?

With Deceiver of Form and even a single Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger on board from the ability you have 18 damage on board and are milling them for 20 regardless. You could conceivably have mana left over for a burn spell if you haven't pegged them down some already.

Think about the explosiveness you could see for something like that in Modern even. A neat combo that doesn't feel like it only interacts with itself. And you could use a lot of different tactics from different color variants to chain in after the combo.

Damn I totally missed that, true... because Deceiver of Form's ability doesn't allow you to choose only one creature right? Must be all of them? Because that could put you down on board, even that as TMBRLZ says it's a hard hit to wake up from, potentially lethal most of the times.

What could be other options among Ulamog here to reveal, Mage-Ring Responder for example? It could also be fetched and it would allow you to hit for 7 to several of his creatures.

Even if are afraid of playing Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger with Deceiver of Form because of the legendary rule, let's say you put something else on top like maybe a Desolation Twin instead. I personally would be playing a From Beyond for some blockers or a little bit of many ramp. Them combat hits and all of your dorks and scions are now 10/10s AND make that many more. Yeah they aren't indestructible but still that is still a pretty boss combo.

or you could flip it copying the conduit to cast ulamog for free...

That would require Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger in hand.

I took an old ramp build I had and somehow fit it in there, it's open to other colors too: I Deceived I wanna crush you

Can't wait to give it a try!
