Simic Tutelage Mill. Need Ideas!

Standard Deck Help forum

I am going to be building a deck around drawing a bunch of cards and breaking Sphinx's Tutelage over my opponent's head once Origins is officially released. The deck I have at the moment can be found HERE! This isn't going to be a real competitive deck as much as it is a fun deck. I play Sultai Assault Formation Mill right now at FNM so as you can see, I am not that worried about winning. Though, I do want to make the deck the best that it can be.

I currently have only 48 cards in the deck. I do not know how Day's Undoing will interact with Sphinx's Tutelage. I plan on asking my LGS judge about it at FNM this week. All said and done, I need more ideas. I like the idea of adding black for removal. Extinguish All Hope is going to get a main spot if I do actually run Black. Infinite Obliteration seems nice as I can completely ruin my opponent's strategy by naming stuff like Siege Rhino or Deathmist Raptor or Dragonlord Ojutai. But I still need more ways to get the game lasting long enough so I can win.

Here's the Matt Tabak post popping everybody's bubble around Day's Undoing.

Remember that TappedOut has a Q&A section specifically for rules questions. You can find the link in the header bar.

Against multicolored decks, Day's Undoing + Sphinx's Tutelage mills about 16-18 cards on average.

Against monocolored decks, the combo mills about 22-30 on average, depending on the number of lands they run.

There is no combo between Day's Undoing and Sphinx's Tutelage. The triggered abilities will cease to exist; they won't be put onto the stack.

Oh well of course it isn't an infinite combo, that's why I said only combo. I suppose you'd prefer me call it a synergy and not a combo.

Ok. That saves me about $30 =) even though I am a little sad that the two can't interact. So that's 16 cards I still need for the deck. Any ideas?

They don't interact at all. The Sphinx's Tutelage triggers cease to exist. They don't resolve. Nothing happens.

Would it work if you can get Day's Undoing out on your opponents turn?

Yes it would DruneGrey as it wouldn't cause the turn to end. Quicken + Day's Undoing is possible in modern.
