How do you expect to cast the Crater's Claws with no red lands? Or do you rely entirely on your Sylvan Caryatid for that?

Honestly, no I would would not play it at FNM or a GP. The deck is basically ramp and The Great Aurora, so what does the deck do while RDW is pounding it in the face? And control decks simply counter TGA when you play it. TGA simply isn't competitive, but I've been trying to think of a crazy combo with it. If I can get it to work, I'll post it in this thread.

Just a bizarre idea off the top of my head:

// control shell.

  1. Cast Banishing Light on your Zendikar's Roil.
  2. Cast The Great Aurora
  3. ???
  4. Profit

magnetcrocodile yes yes omg yes. I may build a EDH deck with that combo in it. :D

Though Banishing Light only hits opponent's permanents. You'd have to use Oblivion Ring or something similar.

ahhh yeah.

Forgot about it. Guess you have to make it modern, then

And in Modern, there's tons of better stuff to ramp into. If you already have Zendikar's Roil on the board, why not just cast Primeval Titan for 6 instead of trying to get to 9? Or, you know, Scapeshift. Honestly, The Great Aurora is the last card I'd consider to abuse land drops and ETB triggers - and I'm a self-proclaimed jank-loving Johnny.

My take on the deck in standard. The combo is possible, just not with Banishing Light.
