These warriors are stuck in a swamp...

Standard Deck Help forum

So, having played it at FNM for a month so far I'm pleased with my standard deck: Off to War!. It's low to the ground and resilient, able to get in under midrange decks, shrug off control, or go toe to toe with a lot of other aggro decks... unless...

... I draw four swamps when I need one more plains, or keep a hand without both colors because I don't want to mulligan again. If that happens, I'm in serious trouble. It happened several times last night; I could have easily been in the top 8 or even top 4 (of the 3rd largest FNM in the US, apparently) but this problem landed me in 13th.

The fixing issue is by far the number one reason I lose games. I'll have all I need to win in my hand, just sitting there waiting for a swamp or a plains. Or I'll have to mulligan repeatedly to get enough of both.

Thinking of throwing in the Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth I already have and running Mana Confluence to deal with the problem, but I'm curious if anyone else has ideas. Maybe ideas that don't cost $30+.

Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth and Mana Confluence is what you need. No way to get past that. I mean, maybe Temple of Silence if you REALLY need the mana and don't mind the ETB tapped.

I would say you pretty much need 4 confluence to really get what you desire. The temples might work though as well.

Yeah, that's what I figured. But it doesn't hurt to see if anyone else had ideas. And taplands are way too slow for this.

I run taplands in my warrior aggro deck, they work fine since I rarely get hands where I only have a tapland to start with and have nothing else to play for 1 or 2 mana

Thanks Goody, I'll test it out with Temple of Silence this week. I'll have to run these other lands too, but more fixing could be worth exploring.
