Thing in the Ice
Standard Deck Help forum

When building a deck with 4x Thing in the Ice Flip, should I be worried about having creatures that aren't considered horrors?
Or is that a silly worry, since it's possible (in a deck stacked with cheap instants) that you'll have a 7/8 creature on turn 4?
I'm considering modifying my blue/red deck to having 4x Thing in the Ice Flip, Aberrant Researcher Flip and Skin Invasion Flip, and pretty much the rest of the deck stacked with burns, counter-spells, and instants to bump creatures.

Yeah, the Reflector Mage would be a problem for me, they'd really slow down this deck. I would hope to be able to counter spell him. If not, I'd aim to recast the Thing in the Ice Flip and then burn him.
BTW, here's the link to the deck:

I'd really appreciate any input you could give.

I know that Aberrant Researcher Flip seems like a good card, being a beefed up version of the old Delver of Secrets Flip, but the casting cost is too high, putting the top card into your graveyard instead of your hand and losing that card to flip it is too much of an advantage right now. There is no "may" clause in the card. You have to do it. I have to admit, I like the card Skin Invasion Flip but it is a cute card and requires another card to make it work. But that is just my thoughts, others may have another opinion.

Thanks Doc!
I want to try the Aberrant Researcher Flip, as I think it can work with 1/3 the deck being cards that'll flip it. It's also one of the very few horrors that I really like, although I could be convinced otherwise.
As for Skin Invasion Flip, you're right, it does require another card to work. Fortunately, I have a lot of burn spells in this deck, and it's very conceivable that I'll have a 3/4 horror on the board before anybody will have a creature that big.
I'm excited to hear what replacements are suggested.

Well I mean they do return to your hand...but I guess why set yourself back if you don't have to right?
