hello I am a player who mostly plays edh and would like to get into standard I enjoy being rewarded for casting lots of cheap spells by getting big creatures and a Thing in the Ice Flip deck seemed perfect I just wanted to get some opinions on cards that should be traded out, include more copies of or include less copies of. I would like to keep this deck as cheap as possible as I have a very finite source of money I can devote to mtg.here is the list:
3 Ingenious Skaab
3 avacyn's judgement
2 Chandra, Fire of Kaladesh Flip
8 Mountain
8 Island
Sidebord
4 Horribly Awry as reflector mage is popular and would be devastating to a thing in the ice with 1-2 counters left
3 Zephyr Scribe for madness triggers on avacyn's judgement and Fiery Temper
2 avacyn's judgement
(very sorry for the weird list I will fix this as soon a the rest of the eldritch moon cards are added to the sites database)

I suggest removing any spells that cause interaction with creatures you control. Instead focus on burn, primarily. This will deal enough damage, that when you can transform Thing in the Ice, it'll end the game quickly, and won't give opponent's a chance to recover, plus with the format being mostly G/W Tokens, and Bant Humans, burn will kill most.

Yeah, sorry-I saw the Turn Aside spoiler right after I commented. I definitely think it's a nice addition to the list, but as a sideboard option (main board it would be a dead card more often than not).

I run a very similar list, which fits under the umbrella of "izzet prowess". The biggest thing o would recommend is to move all of your counters and interaction (Just the Wind, whatever is supposed to be in place of Turn Aside) in favor of a faster aggro plan. I use my deck with the mindset of burn, with a playset of Expedite, Slip Through Space, Titan's Strength, as well as a few Jori En, Ruin Diver and Goblin Dark-Dwellers to take full advantage of my cheap spells' value and cantrip replacement. When casting cheap spells, the biggest thing to look for is the cantrip effect, so you don't run out of gas turn 4 with an unflipped thing or an impatient stormchaser. This kind of deck aims for a turn 4-6 win through fast damage...after that the opponent could either have gone too wide to handle (CoCo, Humans, any weenie strategy) or their threats are so big you need to switch to defense (eldrazi, G/R ramp). I think the homunculus could be an option, but the nibilis of frost is too slow to be viable.
TL/DR: move any/all interaction to the sideboard, replace with fast damage, cantrips, and creatures that enable cantrips and value.
