Will Fatal Push depreciate?
Standard Deck Help forum

So I'm running 4 Fatal Pushes in MY Standard deck: Aggresive Prison Sex and it works perfectly in there. So there's no question on that. Then I saw this Modern deck on here: Ob-Rock (free advertising for you). It also currently runs 4x Fatal Pushes and it seems like it would work well in there. What I'm getting at here is what formats would Fatal Push be good in AFTER Standard? And what's the predicted price change when it cycles out?
It is one of the few 1 CMC removal cards available for Modern.
It may be the only one. I'm not knowledgeable of the format.
When it rotates out of Standard it will drop, as all the Standard bunnies sell off any spares.
I think it will slowly creep back up after a while, but we may be talking something like a decade.

Likely, kinda like with Dismember, right? A decade... They'll have better removal by then, although they might water-down future sets.

If your asking will you lose all your money buying a play set. I wouldn't think so I don't see it going below 5-6 until it creeps up in price

Fatal Push is a great card, but the only card I need is a Weed Card. You can call me the Burning-Tree Emissary.

Just don't hit it to hard and Choke and don't get eyes that look like Blood Moon

Ha! I gotta Cultivate my own though, the last stuff I had had some Tainted AEther in it, gave me a scary Brainstorm.

Considering how cards can frequently get bought out for modern and how Fatal Push secretly had a lower opening rate than a normal uncommon (at least according to some people), it is likely that the card will depreciate slightly when it rotates, be bought out, and then be worth around $10.

Well I hope it has some Rampant Growth and you avoid Arrest and Martial Law then hit it with the Spark Jolt

I would say its safe to buy but not to invest in. Wizards has been stepping up a little in reprints, and if the card maintains as a staple it will likely get printed again, with different art and such. I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but wizards has also been recycling mechanics as well as certain cards, Silvergill Adept as an example. Hope this helps, I get the impression you wish to buy them to play with, and if that is the case don't worry about the value.

From my estimates, it will depreciate slightly but won't crash like other standard cards. Although, I do see WOTC perhaps giving it a reprint in the near future with new art in a supplement products like commander or "master" series so be wary about going "all in". But if you had to bet on a card to rise in value and breaking even or even giving a return somewhere down the line, it would be Fatal Push.
I actually, stupidly enough, went "all in" and have quite a few so fingers crossed

I've gone all in too, but on the foil promos.
I'm counting on people down the line who like to pimp our their decks, like I do.
For once the promo looked amazing.
I made sure to buy them very cheaply, so I should see at least SOME profit.

shadow63, I love you, keep on blazin'.
Hyperalgialysis, I normally wouldn't think they'd bring such a specific mechanic back, but they did Landfall with Sporemound and Morbid with Bone Picker.
averagenovice74, I think we'll be fine, though I would have to disagree with its use in most EDH decks. Stuff like Dismember is better.
Argy, I'm actually about to buy a full set of promos myself. I'll get 'em just because they're shiny and relatively cheap.
Thanks for the input, guys. I think I'm going to buy 4 Promo ones, not for value or investing, but for use and general awesomeness. How cool is it to blast through aggro decks in Modern with an extremely efficient shiny spell? Anyway, what are y'alls' favourite removal spells?

Obviously. Mine's either Geth's Verdict (nostalgia and such) or Anguished Unmaking (preferably the full-art one) because of the emotional story-line.

I mean Anguished Unmaking is just one of the best removal spells of all time.
In the right deck.
Preferably with some life gain.

Those are all awesome. Vindicate especially, so versitile and I love cards with three words: "Destroy target permanent." and "Counter target spell." I'm adding Geth's Verdict to my favourites actually; nostalgia for SOM. Of course, Terminate. As far as mass removel goes: Merciless Eviction, Supreme Verdict, Wrath of God, Decree of Pain, Damnation, Terminus, and such. Mass removal is so fun!

Fatal Push is already a staple in modern. I imagine the price stays right around 8 bucks a pop
