Hey guys. So my plan is to make a 4 color control deck. I want it to be bant splashing black for lingering souls, drownyard, ultimate price, etc. I really need help with this because I dont know how to create it. Any advice would be great. Thanks.
I kinda just mixed Esper and Bant Control, and the land base is kind of iffy, but here is what I built 4c Control

Yeah thats sort of what I am going for just a lil slower. I may try with Ranger's path so i can ramp into things faster. Thanks for the build. I'll keep it in mind.

I suggest running Farseek and Chromatic Lantern over card:Ranger's Path, they are a lot faster then the path

I was going to run Farseek as well. I'm def considering Chromatic Lantern too.

When I think 4c Control, I think Esper splash red, or Grixis splash white.
Green, to me, seems like the least likely control colour.
I will be very interested to see how this turns out and good luck.

Green is pretty good in 4c Control for supporting the mana base, but with Chromatic Lantern in the format, it isn't really necessary. Plus it gives you access to pretty powerful creatures like Swagtusk.

Oh yeah def. Can't build a long game without tusk. I tried just Esper but I missed the life gain and the mana fixing with farseek. So I want to combine both

Well in Esper you can play a 4x card:Sphinx's Revelation for life game + Rhox Faithmender if you miss the life

Yeah but its still not always enough. What do you think of Esper splashing green for thragtusk?

ive build a 4collor control deck:prince-charming. esper with splash or red for Boros Charm and sideboard stuff.
but its still under construction.

Is it worth splashing black just for Lingering Souls and Ultimate Price when you could just run Oblivion Ring / Pacifism / Arrest with Doomed Traveler , card:Talrand's Invocation, Entreat the Angels and Moorland Haunt etc.

Well I could run just straight Esper but there seems to be a lack of life gain at times. I'm gonna tinker with some ideas and build from there. Thanks guys.

Esper is already an insane deck and there should be no need to harm its mana base by adding green. All you get is Farseek . Thragtusk is not needed in an esper deck because Vampire Nighthawk , card:Sphinx's Revelation, and Obzedat, Ghost Council offer plenty of life gain. If you want to run bant with splash black then just look at a bant deck from the previous standard, they almost always had some amount of black mana for Nephalia Drownyard . If you really want to capitalize on 4c control, esper splash red would be the best way to go about it.

well said vila. I'm gonna tinker with Esper and see if I can figure out what I like. Do you like Sorin in Esper?

In esper my current split for planeswalkers is this: 3x Liliana of the Veil , 2x Jace, Architect of Thought , 2x Gideon, Champion of Justice , 1x Jace, Memory Adept , and 1x Sorin, Lord of Innistrad . I haven't personally tested these numbers but Patrick Chapin thinks that it is the correct split so who am I to argue against him?

Which one because I have premium. I must have missed it. I'm not too sure on the new Gideon tho.

I will have to go back and check but I believe it was the one titled "Gatecrash Part 1: New weapons for existing decks"

Ok I see it now. Very interesting list. If you find out anything about what works in esper and what doesnt lemme know. Thanks man.

Moved to Standard because this is more about the concept than a specific deck.
