So this past weekend gatecrash released. And this past weekend scg held an open in Atlanta, Georgia. I along with my friends Chi Hoy Yim, Johnathan Senn, and J.R. Lee traveled to Atlanta representing team quality (a team based out of Jasper Alabama looking to make a name for itself) and we all made top 64 aside from J.R. Anyway, I played this deck RUG midrange. I ended up 7-3 on the day and my only loses came from uwr flash and against brad nelson and his humanimator deck. This deck absolutely stomps other midrange decks into the ground and almost always beats out aggro (though they can still have you dead before your Master Biomancer can stabalize). control is the toughest match but is winnable. After sideboarding Fervor and Thundermaw Hellkite allow us to aggro them out although I'm not sure if this is the best way to approach the control matchup. The reason for posting here was not to brag about my results, but to start to fine tune the deck. With a better understanding of what cards are powerful in the format I think that the deck can be fine tuned and tinkered with to become a real deck. take a look at the deck, any and all suggestions are welcome but please, only suggest things based on results. Don't just give speculation on what "could" be true or not, instead, give ideas that have actually been tested and thought through
Sadly, no. I didn't get any camera time this weekend. However, that guy was someone I met at the tournament who was a Georgia player. He came in not having a deck so I showed him mine. I lost to Brad in round 6.

Nic job vila_a23. I want to play at a large event like that someday (soon hopefully). Any advice after getting some impressions?

evil_monkey REPRESENT! fist bump.
I would also like to mention it's nice to see someone running RUG. I am really liking that combo right now.

@ evil_monkey, what exactly are you looking for in advice? Like what decks to prepare for or how to play against certain things? And thanks, big events like scg opens are really fun but draining. 10 rounds of magic is mentally challenging and that is even more true to a format that you aren't aware of (like a new set being introduced).
@ Fleetfiend, RUG has been a favorite of mine for sometime and Gatecrash just made it my favorite color combination in standard with the release of Master Biomancer and Prime Speaker Zegana :)
