Anafenza Weenies?

Standard forum

Hey guys,

So this last friday, I opened up my fourth freaking Anafenza, Kin-Tree Spirit in my fnm packs. I hate it. But then I looked at the card, and i'm like "This might actually be kind of ok maybe".

I also notice that standard has no real white weenie deck. Heroic is almost there, but I would consider it more of a tall hexproof deck than a wide weenies deck. How would you guys put together a weenies deck in the current format, utilizing anafenza?

Also, this might eventually need to be moved to deck help, based on where the thread goes.

Yes. I built the deck for very cheap, and it can be easily improved with Brimaz. In my build, I run 12 one drops (Soldier of the Pantheon, Mardu Woe-Reaper, Dragon Hunter) which starts the curve very aggressively, in the two drops I like Anafenza and the white megamorph. The deck can win, I've won two smaller FNM's up against RDW and Esper Dragons with it.

Make it aggro, like Dalektable said. also, something to think about is splashing green for Warden of the First Tree, Collected Company, Dromoka's Command, and Den Protector. It should be a lot more potent.

She is popping up in the Collected Company (new pod) modern decks. With Viscera Seer, Anafenza, Kin-Tree Spirit and Kitchen Finks on board you have an infinite life combo. Maybe you might want to give those decks a look and see if maybe you can get some ideas from that.... i may not be specifically a white weenie deck, but there may be a standard "version" that could come together.

God of Manifest (DTK Standard) is a good deck to build off of

I used to play pod, and refuse to betray my baby with that monstrosity of a deck. I'm also fairly certain that there are no persist creatures in the format, which makes that sort of combo very difficult in standard. Here, i'm just looking to eek out some value out of going wide.

Well obviously there are no persist creatures currently in standard. The point I was getting at is that Anafenza, Kin-Tree Spirit is seeing play in other formats so taking a look at what they're doing with her might give you some ideas that you can incorporate into the deck your currently working on. I wasn't specifically saying build the standard version of the deck, just using it as a reference for ideas since she's currently being used there.

Well I mean that's just it, she's only being used as a combo piece. That'd be fine advice if she weren't, but she's not good enough as a standalone creature in other formats, she's either a combo piece or nothing.
