Anti-Meta Decks?

Standard forum

I was just talking with my friend and we were wondering what are some of the better "anti-meta" decks that are floating around. Maybe some lesser known decks that have good match ups against things like MBD, MUD, U/W/x, RDW and possibly a few others. I know that NO deck (that's in standard right now anyway) is good against ALL of these decks. I was just thinking of decks that have a good match up against a few of these (especially control). Thanks everyone!

I think your best answer to the current meta lies hidden somewhere in Junk Midrange. It's a largely unexplored color combination at the moment, and has easy answers to both MonoBlue and MonoBlack in Mistcutter Hydra and Blood Baron of Vizkopa . Against aggro you can side in Fiendslayer Paladin , and against control you can side in Abrupt Decay to deal with Detention Sphere . You also get good utility in cards like Sin Collector and Putrefy .

Also anything that can run Slaughter Games should do fine. And remember. You can't spell slaughter without laughter.

I would say the best way to beat the current meta is a B/W/x build. Esper has already had decent success, and I think both Jund and Junk have solid options: Slaughter Games and Dreadbore for Jund, Mistcutter Hydra and Skylasher for Junk, and both have access to Blood Baron of Vizkopa , Thoughtseize , Fiendslayer Paladin , etc. Any of those combinations should be able to perform respectably against the current meta.

Don't know why I said Jund, I meant R/B/W. I guess Jund just rolls off the tongue easier. haha

I'd say BUG ramp. With access to Mistcutter Hydra you're well matched up against control decks and MUD, but if you accelerate quickly enough an overloaded Cyclonic Rift will destroy any devotion deck. Options like Abrupt Decay and Notion Thief deal with control decks, and you have access to Kiora, the Crashing Wave , AEtherling , Progenitor Mimic , Reaper of the Wilds and a few other good wincons. RDW will fall if you have fogging effects, and you can run Master of Waves and Bident of Thassa if you want a blue-devotion skeleton. There are plenty of options within BUG to play around with that'd make a really good anti-meta deck. You just need to ask yourself whether you want a really broad anti-meta deck or to focus on a few decks in particular, as BUG has enough options to cover whichever decks you're interested in stopping.

Dredge and Maze's End . Few, if any, decks are running Rest in Peace , so Dredge is free to go full-ham. A mainboard Whip of Erebos means aggro decks can't deal with 20-point swings. Maze's End can race any control deck since they can't interact with it at all.

Im having amazing results with red white devotion its fast enough to keep up with the rdw and out play control and resilient enough to out pace MBD. The only deck im losing too is G/R monsters but others I know who play the deck typically beat that deck too they keep better hands probably =p
