Has anyone tried playing Grixis Control in a standard FNM or other sanctioned tournament? What are your lists?
Here's mine for those interested. I can't WAIT for the new Chandra to come out so I can pair her with Master of Cruelties ....
The dragon is pleased Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker

Grixis represent. This Isn't Dawson's Creek. I went to one fnm and went 2-3. I plan on going this friday. I haven't thought about adding the new chandra to my deck. I'm thinking about adding the young pyromancer guy, he seems dope.

My first attempt at Grixis was this deck: http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/grixis-hates-you/However, I found that Grixis wasn't very good during this season of standard. This deck was also a prototype and didn't actually see any FNM play.

I see only a couple of you run with Master of Cruelties as part of your win cons.

I've also been tinkering with the idea of a Duskmantle Seer , Nivix Cyclops Delver of Secrets Flip aggro build. Lots of burn mostly, and cheap spells to fuel the cyclops.

Yeah aggro can be fun but I'm looking for more of a "control" build

One of my buddies runs grixis. He just converted it from control to midrange this week though. He had a nice combo with tamiyo and sire of insanity that he killed me with.

I have run this deck with fairly good success since M13:

I, too, am a player of Grixis and a servitor of Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker
I've had a lot of fun with it so far, as I've always enjoyed playing control-based decks (even in card games that don't, necessarily, have "control" decks) and the Grixis colour shard contains all my favourite colours and effects. I'll be taking my Grixis deck to an Australian tournament in August, with the first place prize being a case of Modern Masters. I've decided that I'd like to win it.

I used to play a creatureless Grixis control, but I eventually gave it up because it started to get really draining to play correctly and wasn't getting great results, both mostly because the aggro decks I had the hardest time dealing with became too popular.

Well, for last night's Friday Night Magic I went 2-2. I beat a Bant Unexpected Results deck, a GW Tokens deck, but I lost to a 4 color reanimator and a Junk Rites deck. I got mana hosed against the 4 color reanimator so I won't count that as a true "loss". (Since we were done very quickly we played again after and my deck performed FLAWLESSLY)
The Junk Rites matchup was VERY close. I made the mistake of taking out my Searing Spear s game 3 when I was on the play and put in more Pillar of Flame to deal with Voice of Resurgence from his sideboard. I should have dropped something else instead but didn't and I didn't have enough instant speed removal to deal with Thragtusk and Centaur Healer s on top of the voice. This also got me thinking that Annihilating Fire would be better instead of Searing Spear . yes it's one more R mana, but it EXILES the creature which is good vs Rites matchups AND Voice.
I'm actually thinking that Rakdos Keyrune would be good to use vs both of those creatures. What do you guys think?
The all stars from the sideboard were Izzet Staticaster vs tokens and Sire Of Insanity vs the Unexpected Results deck as a lot of that deck is sorcery speed. He DID sideboard in Psychic Spiral against me and I had him milled pretty low with Jace, Memory Adept however they got milled by jace and he never made it to 5 mana due to me using Izzet Charm on a Farseek
All in all I think Grixis has a GREAT place in Standard. Let's send Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker out with a bang when he rotates!

I like playing Grixis Control, but I have avoided using Nicol Bolas. You're more than welcome to check out my build. I have a Grixis Control and a Grixis Midrange.

Why avoid using him? He is an all star against other mid range/control decks as a finisher. They cast Angel of Serenity , Thragtusk , Olivia Voldaren , Griselbrand ? You steal it. No creatures in play as a threat for now? Blow up a land. 3 turns later you have the game on lockdown

Here's my updated list. I made some tweaks to make my Unburial Rites matchups a little better, as well as against Bant Auras.
Please have a look and let me know what you think!
