How can we make this guy work in a meta where reanimator is verge non existant!
Pyxis of Pandemonium with scry or Rescue from the Underworld maybe.

You could use Trading Post to get it into the graveyard for +4 life. Then return it with rescue or whip on turn 5 with the right lands.

reanimator isn't non existant. people are abusing the whip left and right

I guess the thing that bugs me is before he would have been amazing with Unburial Rites now it is a bit more of a stretch to reanimate him.
I do like the Whip of Erebos with Gift of Immortality (that works right?)
I currently am using Crypt Ghast and Warden of Evos Isle to help hard cast and using the whips to reanimate!

Gift of Immortality and Whip of Erebos don't synergize because Gift works when the enchanted creature dies. The Whip exiles the creature it brings back. Would be a neat idea though.

Nope, Whip + Gift doesn't work. The whip requires exile, not death. Best bet is just crazy mad ramping with Crypt Ghast and drop extra lands where possible.

If you are playing an esper deck with Ashen Rider you should consider Realmwright to combo with Crypt Ghast

Given the right sort of deck you can hard cast it (as mentioned) or reanimate it like you desire. Unburial Rites is a little on the more overpowered side when it comes to reanimator cards, so frankly I'm glad these two didn't exist in the same standard format. That being said, there's still Grisly Salvage with Whip of Erebos and/or Rescue from the Underworld . Sylvan Caryatid helps to ramp into these cards.

he was playing junk, and whip, Obzedat's Aid is always an option aswell to retrieve creatures or your whip

Hardcasting sounds like some fun, I am still kind of sold on Esper color scheme but I do like the idea of Junk too! I was thinking using both Ashen Rider , and Angel of Serenity
Obzedat's Aid is pretty cool it gives me the option to grab my whips from the graveyard as well! :D
