Does anybody else feel like Battlefield Thaumaturge is extremely powerful? He works well with so many cards. Any spot removal you have costs 1 less. You could run U/W heros and use Glimpse the Sun God to tap down the field and trigger all your heroes that are attacking, all for W. Launch the Fleet only costs W to trigger all your heroes. Curse of the Swine only cost UU to hit all their field. I just don't see why his hype is so low.

I would think that the need to protect him would be too great of a demand to make him really shine. And the decks that would use him don't want to spend resources on him that are better used killing or countering your opponent's stuff.

just thinking while it type.

Granted he is an AWESOME card. maybe after rotation?

Aggro or Midrange might make use of him, but I can tell you why he isn't good in straight up control.

Control decks don't play a lot of creatures > removal is just sitting in opponent's hands > the few creatures control plays tend to draw ALL THE REMOVAL > therefore control deck's creatures need to have a lot of staying power, or have an immediate impact on the game.

For reference, see Snapcaster Mage , Vendilion Clique , AEtherling , etc.

He works well with a lot of shit cards... Except launch the fleet. that card is nuts, why is no one using it.

In my opinion Launch the Fleet doesn't see play for two reasons. The first being that with how efficient and multi-purpose the removal is in Standard the justification for playing a 1 shot targeting effect that requires your creatures to make it to combat to make use of is already a stretch. The second being that without a 'good' anthem (read: Honor of the Pure or similar) that you can stack or play cheaply it is difficult to justify playing a card that makes a small smattering of 1/1s.

it's been mentioned before, i personally think its an awesome and fun card, with some good potential. sadly cards like that really need to be built around rather than just thrown into a deck.

think about it, once that hits the field, people are likely going to target it, for obvious reasons. on the up-side, it baits removal so you can play better things, and worry less about those getting killed on the spot

if you build a deck around it, you're going to be spending a lot more protecting it than you'd like to and that time and mana you spent protecting it could be better spent building a small army of heroics for you to hard-cast cast something like Launch the Fleet or Thrive on
