Been out of the game for awhile, help back in?
Standard forum

I haven't played in awhile, I sold my cards some time ago, back during the Khans block, and I'm looking to get back into the game.
Could someone give me a rundown of the meta, what decks are popular, what decks are strong, and what fringe decks are played even if they aren't very strong?
Also, what are, like, the "best" cards in standard right now?
Anything else I should know about standard currently?
If anyone knows a link to something explaining what I'm asking about, that would be great too.
Thanks!
Currently, Abzan Company, G/W Tokens, and Mono-White Humans are running standard. Standard play is a bit slower with Fetchlands of Khans block rotating. Most decks at the moment are quite midrangy. Check out deck lists from previous opens "Star City Games" website or "MTG Goldfish" for a more in-depth look into the metagame.
Best cards in Standard: Collected Company, Archangel Avacyn Flip, Declaration in Stone, Eldrazi Displacer, Reflector Mage. Just to name a few....

The 4 Pillars of Standard
Basically, the best decks are GW Tokens (because of Gideon, Ally of Zendikar and Nissa, Voice of Zendikar with support from Sylvan Advocate and Archangel Avacyn Flip), decks using Languish and/or Radiant Flames, decks trying to go wide and over the top with Collected Company plus Cryptolith Rite, and then all the powerful but uncommon fringe strategies.
Only about 3 weeks ago most people would have told you the only two decks were Mono-white Humans and Bant Company, and now they've descended into middling success.
The best cards in standard are probably Gideon, Nissa, Avacyn, Languish, Collected Company, Secure the Wastes, Kalitas, Reflector Mage, Dragonlord Atarka, Ulamog, and Westvale Abbey. That said, there are a lot of other really great cards that are seeing play in their own specific archetypes, so there's a lot of room to build around cards you like.
The biggest surprise right now is how poor Chandra, Flamecaller can sometimes be because she is a little too slow or inconsistent in a wide range of matchups. She doesn't play well against CoCo or Secure and sometimes can't even wipe the board cleanly because of Hangarback or Advocate.
