Best Underrated Standard cards

Standard forum

So i was scouring the card lists in the Standard sets, since i'm coming back to standard after my modern season, and i saw a lot of good cards that are playable, so i wanna know, what kind of cards in your opinion is extremely underrated and rarely/almost never see any play in Pro Tours/FNM?

Mine: Utter End: Highly underplayed nowadays, its a little more expensive Vindicate, instead of destroying it exiles instead, good for getting rid of cards that have graveyard recursions and at most times, shutting down decks that use Whip of Erebos. I tried this card out in some of my casual standard decks and my competetive Abzan Midrange deck.

Surrak Dragonclaw Easily under rated because of its 3 colored cost but running it with Double strike dragons just makes it OP

Oppresive rays in a Dromoka's Command format eh?

Utter End will likely see more play as Hero's Downfall leaves the format. Rattleclaw Mystic will likely replace Sylvan Caryatid as a go-to dork. We might be seeing some of the sieges get a second look depending on how the rotation shakes the format. Oh, and Negate is fairly underplayed.

you know Utter End rotates out at the same time as downfall right? Oh, Sarkhan Unbroken. I have seen ONE deck run him, my own. I've had a hard time losing with him out!

Asher18: THS-BNG-JOU-M15 come out. KTK stays in until the block after BFZ.

On the topic of the post, Narset Transcendent and Dragonlord Dromoka. They are both really good underplayed cards that would see play in Bant Control. Oh wait, they do see play in the list I have!

Agent of the Fates won me Born of the Gods gameday. It's funny to see people fawn over Foul-Tongue Invocation as though it's the first edict we've had all season. Yes, it's good, but a near-Deathmist Raptor that turns all your tricks into edicts? Why was this guy never a thing?

Personally I think all of the non-dragonlord versions of the 5 main dragons from tarkir are all underrated (especially dromoka). Oh and Generator Servant.

MinscAndBoo yeah, the card looks good. Maybe in an Esper Heroic list with Gurmag Angler alongside it?

Gurmag Angler is also really good. I may consider playing Rakdos Red with it. Or Izzet Red with Treasure Cruise. I just got some ideas...

Secure the Wastes and Kolaghan, the Storm's Fury are definitely overlooked. Secure is applicable at every stage of the game and can be played in aggro, midrange, and control due to its flexibility and the fact that it's instant speed. Kolaghan is difficult to get rid of and hits hard every turn, its dragon pumping ability is also pretty sweet.

Bow of Nylea, Spear of Heliod, Springleaf Drum, King Macar, the Gold-Cursed, Hythonia the Cruel, Triad of Fates, and Avacyn, Guardian Angel are all reasonably playable but see virtually no play outside of maybe the bow and the drum. I can see avacyn working in a devotion build and hythonia working in a slow attrition-based deck. macar's ability is actually devastating if you build around him. The bow and the spear make combat a nightmare, the bow is a freaking swiss army knife. triad of fates is slow and dies to lightning strike, but bouncing a rhino or a gray merchant in a board stall is game-winning.

My card that I've been defending for so long is Glaring Aegis as it proves super valuable in any deck aggro deck that runs white. I use it in my Warrior deck for example as means to take out a blocker and bash through with other creatures easily. It saves against decks that run red and makes your warriors gods of combat. I've used it to work with Blood-Chin Rager so I can get through still without it getting blocked. I've put it on Battle Brawler to turn it into a 4/5 monster with First-strike. It's over all a great card.

Brimaz, King of Oreskos has always been a great card and it isn't seeing as much play as it used to which is sad. I think it's really only played in 1 deck and maybe 1 other rogue type deck. He is probably the best card for the format right now short of Siege Rhino and maybe Dragonlord Ojutai. He is just so resilient. He needs to be put into more decks. Also, Avatar of the Resolute isn't seeing all that much play, and it's a fairly inexpensive card which is surprising. HE is soooo good!!! Another card not seeing any play and is super powerful is Villainous Wealth! I love this card! Imagine in a ramp deck that just pukes out mana! This card with Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver, who needs to have their own threats. Lmao.

Gift of Immortality is one I haven't seen played much. Also Scourge of Skola Vale. What people don't realize is a combo like Dragonlord Atarka + Gift of Immortality + Scourge of Skola Vale That's 8 +1/+1 counters for The Hydra and a repetitive use of Atarka's bomb. Like really. Scourge and Gift are really underplayed considering the capabilities

Oh earlier Narset Transcendent was mentioned for being underrated I agree. I think I found one of the decks she shines most in... Jeskai tokens! Like for anyone who wants to make use of a copy of her that hasn't found a deck yet then put her in one! She's awesome and such.

Also Zeondragon that sounds amazing! XD

Ragon_Wolfbane it really is amazing. Especially if you just so happen to have a Dragon Tempest out. Cuz then it's like Atarka isn't even phased by it haha.

Seeker of the way has fallen to the side a bit but it is extremely strong vs the more aggressive meta decks.

I also like gurmag angler a lot, as well as Sidisi, brood tyrant. I think there is a lot of potential in Sultai sidisi/raptor/den protector.

Also, I want to say that heroic is wildly underrated. It makes counterspells inefficient and provides a lot of value if played correctly.

So, some underrated cards in that vein:Warrior's lesson - in the right deck, you draw two and activate heroic on two creatures, all for 1 mana.

Agent of the fates - repeatable edict on a 3 power deathtouch. Imo his standard potential was stunted by double black and black's below average heroic support, but he is a powerhouse in the right deck.

Battlefield thaumaturge - a ton of utility. Is amazing with the next card on the list but interacts with so much more.

Launch the fleet - can blow people out

i think that agent and tyrant are amazing and potentially can be the best card in your deck, but both share the same problem... they both die to the ever present lightning strike and draconic roar.
