Bile Blight to Ultimate Price ratio

Whether it be U/B, Sultai, Esper, or Abzan, what are your thoughts on the Bile Blight to Ultimate Price ratio?

Bile Blight : needed against Abzan aggro, tokens and Mantis Rider

Ultimate Price: hits a lot of relevant monocolored creature that blight cannot (Courser of Kruphix, Stormbreath Dragon, Polukranos, World Eater etc.)

Any thoughts?

Im playing esper now with 3 ultimate price and O bile blights. I think in control ultimate price is better because of the mana, you can never have 2 swamp on turn two and 2 blue on turn 3 for dissolve

Abzan and Jeskai are the only decks that Bile Blight is better against than Ultimate Price. And Jeskai can easily be beaten by Drown in Sorrow from the sideboard.

I don't think Bile Blight needs to be played at all. The casting cost always has been and continues to be a large problem with the card.

Didn't finish before I posted...

Last thing, unless your meta is full of a lot of Abzan aggro decks (Rakshasa Deathdealer, Fleecemane Lion), I wouldn't bother with Bile Blight anymore.

Also, encase in ice or radiant purge from sideboard are good against abzan aggro

Yeah. I think Encase in Ice is slightly better though because it hits all the same multicolour creatures, plus Warden of the First Tree and Boon Satyr.

I feel like not running Bile Blight main is auto-conceding to abzan aggro and jeskai tokens game 1. I do get how blight is troublesome on the mana, I've faced games where I couldn't cast it but I've also faced games where I did cast it turn 2 (I play sultai btw). Maybe a ratio of 2-2 could be a thing to consider?

i feel like why not both? and i would like to point out that you definatly can have double black and double blue by turn 3 urborg and Temple of Deceit both help that

The Rogue Shard of Tarkir is my list, and while the game 1 against Abzan aggro and Jeskai tokens is definitely no sweep, it is nowhere near an auto-concede without Bile Blight.

With Silumgar's Scorn, the mana requirements on T2 become both and . Playing Silumgar's Scorn has essentially the same function as Bile Blight in removing early curve creatures in order to survive until we can wrath.

It is all true. Are people forgetting that abzan aggro has a horrendous mana base that rarely gets more than 4 or 5 mana on the table which makes Silumgar's Scorn golden even if you don't reveal a dragon. And is everyone forgetting you should be running Hero's Downfall and sweepers? Yes I know that a monstrous Fleecemane Lion and mana open for Rakshasa Deathdealer to regenerate sucks, but it's NOT unbeatable game 1.

Also Foul-Tongue Invocation gets around fleecemane and rakshasa

I prefer Esper for control. I have lost many hours of sleep over the Ultimate Price Bile Blight decision. I have to go with blight. Jeskia tokens is very popular, and that second black source hits far more often than not. I like foul-tounge invocation and Hero's Downfall in main. Considering those bigger removers, price is less needed. I play in a meta full of Abzan and Jeskia, plus the usual hords of rabble reds. This makes blight More valuable.
