Card advantage can win games,
even at the expense of a few life.
Underworld Connections VS Sign in Blood
Thoughts?
I'd have to go with Underworld Connections . The amount of cards you can draw and the card advantage it gives you over your opponent is shit-balls amazing.

They're both great cards. If you're asking about which one is better, I think it comes down to how fast or slow your deck is.
If it's a slower control-type deck, then it can afford to wait to cast Underworld Connections and it won't hurt as much to tie up a land drawing an extra card. Also, since the game will be going longer, you'll get the opportunity to draw several more cards off of Connections before it's all over.
If it's a faster aggro-type deck, then the cheapness of Sign in Blood is an advantage, since when you cast it for more cards you're more likely to be able to play whatever you drew in the same turn. It can also be used as the very last burn spell of the game if your final attack doesn't quite finish off your opponent.

Bloodgift Demon gives draw and body on the field.

I am getting back into magic and I am still tweaking a deck that is fairly aggressive, but I find myself top-decking more than I'd like, so I was exploring card draw options. My old favorite, Contract from Below , is a memory of a bygone era (along with pogs and other things) and these two remind of the next best thing Necropotence .
I like the continual advantage from Underworld Connections , but the economy of Sign in Blood along with the occasional surprise victory are really nice. I find myself torn between the two.

Do you have a decklist that you're working on? It'd be nice to see what environment the card will fit into. If you're playing aggro, you're probably best off with Sign in Blood since as most people have already said, you'll be able to drop your cheap threats and potentially deal the last two damage to your opponent.

If your deck is aggressive that means you're trying to make the game end in as few turns as possible, so you might only get 2 cards from Underworld Connections at a higher mana cost than Sign in Blood and you'll be tying up a land for 2 turns. In that deck, drawing multiple Connections will also be much worse than drawing multiple Bloods. I know on the outside Connections might look more like Necropotence , but it's hard to make a balanced comparison since Necro lets you get multiple cards every turn for only one mana/land investment.

@jminute14 My deck is Budget Artist. I am currently running Sign in Blood in a limited capacity as you will see.
@Rhadamanthus it is true that it is not in the same range as Necropotence , but Underworld Connections seems like it would help me the most if I hit mid game which is where I end up top decking the most.

In a Blood Artist style deck, card:Altar's Reap may be the best option.
Sac a Butcher Ghoul , it comes back as a 2/2, your opponent loses a life, you gain a life, you draw 2 cards... not bad for 1B.
You may want to reconsider the number of Elixir of Immortality you have in the main board. I would suggest removing 2 and adding 2 more Swamp s... maybe even find room for 1 or 2 more Swamp s after that.

@Rayenous when I have 4x Gravecrawler s I intend to reevaluate card:Altar's Reap, but with the level of creature hate in the local FNM meta, having a spare creature when I want to draw, let alone a spare creature and 1+ blood artists in play occurs less often than I would like. This led me to the other black draw spells.
I will take your advice on lands and elixirs under advisement.

for standard in black card draw is best if in a control deck, not often does a black deck play draw and when it does Sign in Blood is used as you can target a player. multiple times i have used a sib to kill my opponent.
while in a control deck where you would run 26-28 land connections is ok as you have land for the card and would rather have burn and board whips over a one draw as the connections gives you multiple.

Griselbrand nuff said. Both are good. Underworld Connections is better against control than Sign in Blood .
