i have not yet seen an ally deck in tournament play besides fnm and by far i believe either abzan or black white would be the two deck types to run. I am curious on what people think of black white allies and if they can make the cut. If you need an example i have a black white ally deck on my profile.

I'm having a lot of trouble at the moment coming up with a valid Ally build in Standard.

I think they are having the same problem that Elf Tribes were facing in the last expansion: Wizards really haven't given them enough tools to make them viable on their own.

I'm now mucking around with some different finishers to see if I can hit with something non-Ally in the late game.

I have had fun testing with

I've seen some Ally decks around my store, and seem to do fairly well but not winning any tournaments.

IMO, the deck is too reliant on Drana, Liberator of Malakir to really hang against other aggro decks due to the small bodies it tends to play. I have been able to beat it fairly easily simply by saving removal for her. That said, only one set in Standard has Allies, so let's see if the next set offers a worthy pairing to make it harder to deal with.

OK I've made some adjustments and you can most definitely play a competitive Ally deck. It just needs to be either Abzan or Mardu.

My deck now has a couple of different win conditions. Yes, one is Drana, Liberator of Malakir but another is Butcher of the Horde. That addresses the idea of holding removal in hand as it's difficult to know which card to prioritise.

I've made my Allies hit harder in the early to mid game by stripping all the fat and only putting in ones that synergise well. Chasm Guide + Firemantle Mage + Kor Bladewhirl provide a deadly combo.

Citadel Siege helps a lot to buff or shut down Opponent threats.

Here's my deck.

Here's an Abzan CoCo deck that seems to work.

I don't believe that dual colour Ally decks are viable because they miss out on some strong combos in the early to mid game.
