Blightcaster post rotation?

I was thinking that Blightcaster may see a bit more play once theros comes round. I'm thinking b/w/r/g with Primeval Bounty , Assemble the Legion and Deadbridge Chant as the main Wincons along with Sire Of Insanity , using their sheer power once on the field to generate much more advantage than your top decking opponent. Blightcaster seems very powerful, as with a bestow card, you can cast a creature, then just kill something on the spot, and with removal like Pacifism , Stab Wound and hopefully some more in theros, do you think this could be done. Or do you have some suggestions for some more sane ideas with him post-rotation?

I definitely think some people will try to incorporate it into their decks...but having a 4 colored deck post rotation will probably be a bad idea while Burning Earth is still a thing.

Fair point, but in mono-black say, do you think it may deserve a spot, as just playing the god or his whip will kill off a bear.

@ notamardybum Burning Earth could also be lowered as a threat post-rotation since most decks may run enchantment removal mainboard.

I don't believe with Blightcaster , since it has "cast" in its text, you can trigger it with bestow. Than again they may post rulings on "bestow" differently.

601.2. To cast a spell is to take it from where it is (usually the hand), put it on the stack, and pay its costs, so that it will eventually resolve and have its effect. Casting a spell follows the steps listed below, in order. If, at any point during the casting of a spell, a player is unable to comply with any of the steps listed below, the casting of the spell is illegal; the game returns to the moment before that spell started to be cast (see rule 717, Handling Illegal Actions). Announcements and payments cant be altered after theyve been made.

hopefully Epochalyptik can clear this up further.

WovenNebula Actually, the reminder text words it as "if you cast this card for it's Bestow cost..." so it should trigger Blightcaster 's ability

ex: Celestial Archon

@ljs54321 Sorry I should clarify better, i meant in aspect to this: "Blightcaster seems very powerful, as with a bestow card, you can cast a creature, then just kill something on the spot" Sounds like it switching it to bestow while it has already resolved. Don't you pay its cost or bestow cost at time of casting and not switch back and forth? I could be wrong on how it works but casting as I knew it, means: played from your hand.

Most of the time that's how it works, but there are cards that allow you to cast spells from other zones such as the library, graveyard, or exile.

One difference between these and regular auras is that if you cast them as an aura and the creature you targeted to enchant is killed, they still enter as creatures. Otherwise you cast as one or the other, but no switching once on the field, unless the rules allow it to remain on the field as a creature if the creature it's enchanting dies, which sounds like the way it works to me.

I think OP was more referring to casting it as a creature and since it also has enchantment in it's card type, it would still trigger Blightcaster . At least that's how I interpreted what they were saying.

Blightcaster works with enchantment creatures regardless of whether you bestow them or not.
