Bow of Nylea + Polukranos, World Eater

Hmmm...just saw thought of these two and how they would interact with each other.

Attack with Polukranos, World Eater with Bow of Nylea on the battlefield, activate monstrosity before blockers are declared, kill everything with 1 damage to each due to deathtouch?

Seems good :) Right on curve to kill 2 creatures at x = 1 also (if you don't miss a land drop that is)

Couldnt you just do that at any time technically?

No you Bow of Nylea only gives attacking creatures deathtouch. So it would have to be done as the OP stated.

I am assuming that you mean on curve to kill 2 creatures at X=2? since you do x damage divided as you choose.

@Gidgetimer yes that's correct, although I think that later would be better due to having more mana for the "board wipe".

I'm thinking of Golgari midrange would be good using the: Bow, Polukranos, and Deadbridge Chant (spoiler: if you have non creatures in your graveyard, use the bow to "tuck" them to the bottom of your deck so you have a better shot at hitting a creature)

Yeah I noticed ths interaction, it looks pretty good, only problems are making sure that Polukranos isn't swinging into too many blockers, and the fact that they can blow up the bow at instant speed and block with the creatures that would have died otherwise.

That's true, but it's only one line of play and doesn't necessarily have to be made right when you attack. You can wait to see what your opponent is going to do on defense before you make that decision. Have your opponent use removal on him and then making him monstrous screws up their plans lol.

so assuming neither poly nor the bow gets blown up, does the wording mean that those creatures die before they ever get a chance to do damage back to him?

No, the damage is dealt simultaneously, deathtouch or not.

Correct. All damage would be dealt simultaneously, however if they're combined power isn't enough to match his toughness then they die. And since he will be attacking and thus have deathtouch from the Bow of Nylea he only needs to do 1 damage to each creature in order to destroy them.

At the very least his monstrous ability in this case provides card advantage by taking away multiple creatures and "martyring" himself. If you can pull this off and have a regen effect in hand like a Golgari Charm then he regenerates and takes out multiple creatures. It's a bit hard to set up but with the right build I"m sure someone could pull it off in a Golgari build

In the particular example of attacking with him on turn t5 and activating the monstrous ability (22G) you put him to 7 toughness. I'm sure that you can kill off two creatures whose total power is < 7 anyway

The damage is not dealt simultaneously because there is a specified order. First, Polukranos, World Eater deals damage. Then the target creatures deal damage. It doesn't really matter here, though. Remember that creatures are destroyed as a state-based action. SBAs don't check while something is resolving, so the creatures won't die until after the ability has fully resolved.

9/15/2013: As Polukranoss triggered ability resolves, Polukranos deals damage first, then the target creatures do. Although no creature will die until after the ability finishes resolving, the order could matter if Polukranos has wither or infect.

Ah right again Epoch. Thanks for clarifying. I guess I didn't specify in this case as it didn't matter but you are in fact correct that he deals his first
