Can orzhov stop Blood Baron?

I want to play an orzhov deck but my lgs has lots of Blood Baron of Vizkopa floating around. Is there any way a black white deck can handle him?

Celestial Flare comes to mind first.

Oh, and Devour Flesh of course. Flare is still strictly better vs Baron.

Lifebane Zombie eats'em up pretty good too, and Thoughtsieze and Nightveil Specter if it survives long enough to hit and flip one over

Elspeth kills it

So in short, yes, there's a ton of ways to deal with that card lol

You can splash red for Mizzium Mortars :)

If your local meta has so much Orzhov, it's probably not a good idea to play the archetype to begin with. Then you subject yourself to people building against the deck type and you don't really gain an advantage in the mirror.

And then you should find out what decks are really good against Orzhov and build something using that knowledge

R/W Burn is good against MBD and Orzhov is similar so you could do that.

Renounce the Guilds , Celestial Flare , Devour Flesh , Thoughtseize , Lifebane Zombie , block with 2 Mutavault , splash red for Slaughter Games , Mizzium Mortars , splash blue for Rapid Hybridization . Generally the sacrifice effects are more inconsistent as your opponent can play around them. The best way would be to splash a color IMO.

Play b/r Its like mono black but you have mortars and lifebane still

These guys are right. Orzhov can't take care of Baron directly, only through sac measures which aren't very reliable.

You can Lifebane Zombie and Thoughtseize it out their hand as well as play it and Celestial Flare it away too. The dirtiest trick is when you splash red for rakdos return or slaughter games but also side skullcrack for anti lifegain and let blood baron block something that would kill it like obsedat or something and then Skullcrack the replacement effect not only prevents the lifegain but overides Protection and the damage cannot be prevented and baron dies to a creature he wouldnt take damage from.

That were to imply that a creature COULD deal damage to him in the first place. He still has to be blocked, right? But he's got pro- white/black.

When it comes out Godsend is in those colors.

Godsend wouldn't work since your opponent wouldn't willingly block a creature equipped with Godsend with the BBoV, and you no orzhov creature can block BBoV since he's got protection.

Elspeth, Sun's Champion gets rid of them and so do the board wipes: Fated Retribution and the Extinguish All Hope . There is also the potential for a Desecration Demon to get rid of one if the opponent is in a losing position. Those are all I can think of that havent been mentioned. Obviously all the other colors have standard playable answers.... No one has mentioned green's Boon Satyr if everyone is gonna get off topic.

Godsend also.
